Hyuzanriu
Despite having owned two for a little under two years I have never used my Penitent Engines. The only reason that I have never played them is because I do not have anything strong enough to hold them together. Has anyone tried using epoxy to assemble a Penitent Engine or is pinning it my only option? WarriorFish
Pinning is not essential, but is recommended. It's as much a test of faith as anything else to assemble! A strong super glue is worth having anyway, and I find gel glue makes for much easier assembly of fiddly kits as you can blob it as well as use it as a filler. I've not used epoxy, but if you've a good suitable one I don't see why it shouldn't work though I can't remember the details of assembling the model. Frater Cornelius
Never seen a P.E. unassembled, but when I am building or converting something fragile, I always use Green Stuff + super glue to glue stuff together. Fibonacci
The Penitent Engine is without a doubt the most frustrating model I have ever put together. I have 3. Patience is needed. As is a ton of superglue. A big lump of clay doesn't hurt either to prop up the sub-assemblies while the glue cures completely. Fill in every gap and seam you can find with more super glue. Let it cure completely. Like 15 to 30 minutes at least. Pinning helps. You can drill through the arm joints after assembly if you like doing pins that way. Pinning the torso pieces is how you learn to cuss like a sailor. I will not do that again. I just glue the crap out of them now. Good luck and may the Emperor guide your hands. Naminé
Copious amounts of green stuff and superglue will work. Pinning really helps but you could get by without it... I would just really recommend Pinning regardless. Once it is built make sure you have a very secure storage option for it. When not on the table, stow it away as soon as possible. These things break easy and you don't want them knocked off the table like what happened to mine. Good luck. mince on toast
A combination of pinning, super glue & lots of yelling is the only way i tried using thumb tacks rather than "pins" to pin the feet the flat heads gives extra stability & surface area for super glue under the base then pin it through the foot & ball joint of the leg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301058-assembling-the-penitent-engine/#findComment-3902183 Share on other sites
PureFodder
I just use superglue which is ok, but not great. When I take my penitent engines to a game I usually take at least one extra for the inevitable breakages in transit. Sith’ari
Eurrgh! The thought that I have three of these beasts to build is already filling me with dread (I have bad memories of building 9 old killa kans, that still haunts my nightmares!)
