jumping goat
Hi I have finished painting my first batch of 30k world eaters. I found that using just dirt and bits of rubble on the bases looked a bit plain, so I stuck bits of static grass, flock and foliage clusters to create a contrast to break up the dull dirty armour. I'm happy with the result, but I figure it's not very realistic. Most of the battles in the Horus heresy novels begin with orbital strikes, artillary fire, virus bombs ect which would destroy all plants. I'm considering rebasing the eight marines I have completed. What are your thoughts on this? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301084-foliage-on-30k-bases/ Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
I dunno, not all the plants would necessarily be destroyed. Besides, what could be more GrimDark than the last few bits of living foliage on the planet being trampled to death by a bunch of care-for-nothing-but-war World Eaters? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301084-foliage-on-30k-bases/#findComment-3902344 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
IIRC, when the WE fought the Ultra's (I can't recall which novel right now....) it describes the show down between Guiliman and Lorgar/Angron being on a grassy hilltop. If you're happy with your bases, thats what matters, I'd leave them. Quixus
If you're happy with your bases, thats what matters, I'd leave them.+1 Additionally while most engagements may have started with orbital bombardment, I doubt that each and every square inch of the planet will have been hit by ordnance, before the space marines arrive. If that were the goal, they could have gone with an Exterminatus in the first place.
