Building Character Models.

So, I'm kinda torn. I love using my metal Logan Grimnar model as my wolf lord. I'm trying to decide if I should paint him a little different, like not making his hair and beard grey, and make him look a little younger, and alter the paint scheme a little, or If I should scratch build a Wolf Lord out of spare bits. I have one spare terminator that I could use to make into a custom lord. On one hand, I have the model already and he looks bad ass, on the other I'm wanting to have a Lord with a tough of my own personality in it.

So do I make a custom lord, or keep using Logan? If I build, how should I build him? I like using the Krakenbone sword relic, but I always imagine it as a power axe without unwieldy. I also Like to use the frostfury relic to give some shooting to my wolf lord. Is this loadout usable? Should I be doing something different? Do you have any suggestions?

I say build your own Wolf Lord, after all your Warlord represents YOU on the tabletop, make him unique and interesting.

As for the loadout I like Terminator Armor too, it's not really very practical compared to Artificer Armor but I like it anyway. For weapons the Krakenbone sword and bolter is fine, should look cool depending on how you model it, I like the look of characters with bolters but prefer to go with Storm Shields for most of my HQs to make them as survivable as possible.

The only problem with the Krakenbone sword is it's lack of AP2, you might want to consider a chainfist, Thunder Hammer, or potentially the Black Death, especially if you want your lord to have an axe I'd go with the Black Death.

Krakenbone is AP2 on initiative. You are confusing it with the Fangsword. Krakenbone is a Champignons of Fenris relic.

But I totally agree on the Warlord thing. HQ is my favourite slot. He has to be the biggest and badest mothertrucker out there. Build your own.

So I did end up building him. I'll pics soon. Obviously he's unpainted and he'll have some interesting bits. I did the best I could with the bits I had. I'm not sure I like how his pose turned out, but I'll reserve judgement until I hear some feedback.

Glad you build your own, I am waiting till after a tournament in January then I'll be making mine also in terminator armour. I am going to magnetize him to fit on a tw, or a base by himself (I know this will be hard to do, and technically illegal, but when on a tw he will just change points to pay for ra). I also like the krakenbone, and black death, and I think using an axe for krakenbone is fine considering it's stats follow a basic power axe it's cool.

I think I'm going to Alternate between him and Logan for a while. My metal Logan is great, and I'm going to paint him a bit differently, since I have the new plastic Logan (magnetized too) to use for Logan himself. I'll be giving the metal Logan a brown beard and hair, and the axe will get a power weapon paint scheme, and some other minor differences, to make him different from the artwork. I also need to come up with my own insignia and company colour. But I'll definitely have a place in my army for both of them. I might also do a bit of green stuff to add on to the metal Logan to add a bit more customization.
