Deschenus Maximus
So, I'm not crazy about the idea of superhuman soldiers riding giant wolves, for some odd reason. I'd like to find something a bit more palatable. What else are people using to represent them? So far, the least silly idea I could come up with was to just use the wolf models but without the riders on them. Vykryl
Immersturm runs converted fantasy Chaos Knights or something for his. Someday I will put scouts on mine. Some use werewolf models. I think someone talked about using trolls or other beasts said inhabit Fenris. Raging Heroes (I think it's them) has a Zoid style Thunderwolf replacement. Scibor makes a bear option. Seems like I've seen marines on Coldones as well. Deschenus Maximus
Wherewolves are a cool idea but I'd rather not go 3rd party or have to do massive amounts of conversion (I'm picky, I know ). Morik
I would consider normal WGPA on large bases, seems the only way to represent how bad ass WG are one on one, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301222-alternative-to-thunderwolf-models/#findComment-3905032 Share on other sites
Rune Priest Jbickb
You could model the existing models as a pair with the marine on foot. Then it can be more like a hound master bringing his dogs to war. Ulrik_Ironfist
Dem yhetees. I think I may have found more Ice trolls for my army. Those skin wolves would make great wulfen models (used as counts as TWC). Lots of great ideas coming out of this thread. Frater Cornelius
There is Chaos Knight Horses, there Chaos Skullcrushers and there are Empire Demigryph Knights. Scibor has Bears and FW Skinwolves make for interesting werewolf alternative. Privateer Press Warpwolves are akin to Skinwolves. Deschenus Maximus
A guy i did, cavalry next to it for size comparison. That looks awesome! I really wish Gw had gone with Uberwulfen instead of T-Wolf cavalry. If you look at their stats, that's what they are, realisticaly. NightHowler
A guy i did, cavalry next to it for size comparison. I'm working on something similar for my counts-as TWC. Just started painting it and still working on a backpack for it, but here's what I'm doing for my TWC. Token
Thats cool. Where is the werewolf from? The one i did is Skaven Ratogre with legs made longer and repositioned to running position. Fenrisian wolf head. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301222-alternative-to-thunderwolf-models/#findComment-3905568 Share on other sites

NightHowler
Thats cool. Where is the werewolf from? The one i did is Skaven Ratogre with legs made longer and repositioned to running position. Fenrisian wolf head. There was a game called Confrontation by a French company called Rackham that went out of business. They had (IMHO) the absolute coolest werewolf miniatures for an army they called "the Wolfen of Yllia". Many of them are not really very good for making TWC, but there are several that are really good. You can find some of the old models on ebay or third-party sites that sell old miniatures. I hope to have all my TWC converted and painted by February for a tournament coming up. I'll post pics when they're done. Ulrik_Ironfist
That's some sick work. I kinda want to do wulfen now. Wulfen with thunderhammers and storm shields... Amarog
Awesome stuff and given me some great ideas.. I like the idea of doing a unit with bearsinstead of wolves. And on scribor there is a pure beast of a wolf that would be a good mount for my wolf lord :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301222-alternative-to-thunderwolf-models/#findComment-3906158 Share on other sites
Daddywarcrimes
I'm leaning towards using Wolf Guard riding Scimitar jetbikes as Counts-As Thunderwolves.
