the navigator was updated for HH and bols just caught on to this update and while i dont know the origional model rules at all (or even if they existed at all) the navigator powers were updated and his special rules expanded. the navigator is super powerful and would wreck shop against armies heavy on terminators, blood angels. greenskins, chaos marines, and is a HARD counter to centurionstar (as it would basically kill all your centurions in a single turn) coupled with the fact that he can be attached to pretty much any 30k loyalist legion army, the solar auxila, or the imperial knights the navigator is simply too powerful for his own good imo.

Coteaz's I've Been Expecting You (lite) for *EVERYONE*!!

What's not to love?

And yeah, Psychic Powers.  Can be nerfed by Deny now.  But not special abilities that act like Psychic Powers, but aren't Psychic Powers!  Let's just bypass that whole system of checks and balances.

Becuase, reasons!

I looked at this model about a year ago, if he was so good he would have been used more by now.  He's pretty boring TBH.  But thats just my opinion maybe I am missing something.

He is considered a psycher for all rules purposes ....  hello culexus.

I'm not seeing how Aetheric Disruption works?

"roll three dice and discard the lowest result for the

purposes of Perils of the Warp results"
Perils is a D6 roll, so blink.png
Unless its for LD checks on certain perils results? If so it's not very well worded!

These rules appear to still be for sixth addition.

What makes you think that they are so good against terminators and centurions? Snap shots at normal BS is nice but neither centurions nor terminators have to arrive via deep strike.

Additionally T3 1W 6+ is pretty squishy.

drop pod him in front of them and drop the template, their inititive values are all relatively low. you would simply instagib them. he would die right afterwords more than likely but it would be a huge amplifier to drop sternguard/veterans

These rules have been around since June of this year at the latest (when I downloaded them), and quite possibly earlier. So this isn't "news." I'm moving the topic over the Horus Heresy/Age of Darkness forum.

He's a great attschment for a unit with one huge problem: he can't ride in transports. (Allies in the Age of Darkness - "not even battle brotgers may ride in their allies transports" or words to that effect.) This means the best power for killing models, whicb also has the shortest range must foot slog a very weak model at the best target. Realistically,  it just won't work well.

Now... I think he migt be great in Zone Mortalis where it's much harder to out maneuver each other so it'll be easy to reach your target. Whether he lives to use his ability... I don't know.

I'm tempted to put him in a large objective holder along woth an Apothecary (I play Iron Hands) to make the most of the -1 BS on enemy shooting along with FnP and my units inate -1 Str from shooting. They won't be going anywhere easily.

He's an independent character in the primary detachment and can therefore join squads and ride in transports just as any other independent character in the primary detachment: "A single Navigator may be taken as an HQ choice in a Primary Detachment (note that they need not be taken as part of an Allied Detachment)."

Yeah this is old news and not an update. I run a navigator in my iron hands list. The lidless stare is a really nice deterrent, but I mostly use him for the -1 to enemy BS shooting. Combined with FNP, T5, and 20 3+ bodies he makes them really really resilient.

He's very fragile, however, and I've had him sniped out of my blob a few times. 4++ isn't all that survivable.
