Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Has anyone scratch built a servo arm for a techmarine?? I need one and am feeling low on creative juices since I've been painting since midmorning... Any suggestions of bits etc would be great. And FYI my OCD does not allow me to use 3rd party bits, don't suggest them. Also, the cheaper, the better!! MaveriK
My old friend and Wolf brother. I give you this insight for the bits you require... SERVO ARM: Pintle Mounts from Imperial Guard Valkyrie. PINCHER/CLAW: Ork MegaNobz Kustom Blasta & KFF BACKPACK: cut one side of the circles off... option one, sw wolf head targeter. option two, dev squad targeter backpack. Where are all the rest of our pack brothers, the greybeards of the glory days? Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Maverik!! What a sight for sore eyes, brother!! It has been some time, must of been one hell of a slumber you took!! The old pack has come and gone, some of them to the ruinous powers of chaos *cough forte cough* but the Grey beards still 'Lurk' around the halls. Thank you for the list of pieces, I have a friend who play both IG and Orks!! Done and done. Bladewolf, I thought of that, but some of us cannot go out and buy an Iron Priest for its backpack. And some Necrons. And some blood angels. And some knights... :P Wulfgar, I'd love to see a picture of this concoction!! Lord Blackwood
Brother , why not buy the iron priest and magnetize the backpack to go on both him and the mounted version of him , so in case you wanna have an on foot iron priest you could have one. I literately just released I should have done this Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301373-homemade-servo-arms/#findComment-3907840 Share on other sites

MeatGrinder
I took the arms from the old SM servo harness. One techmarine gives me 4 servo arms essentially. Picking up a second hand (no pun) one on ebay might be cheaper than getting some of the components to build one. Sturm Moonwolf
Welcome back Maverick! I can't respond to this post properly as I'm that guy that now has a laser scanner and 3D printer in the family tree for personal use. You get 6 Pieces and im currently asking if we can choose. 4 of the Middle ones and 2 of the Big Arm on right schould be the perfect Mix. http://bitsofwar.com/home/1-mechanical-ccw-arms.html http://bitsofwar.com/1-large_bosky/mechanical-ccw-arms.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301373-homemade-servo-arms/#findComment-3907950 Share on other sites

Guest loganwolf
Consider using green stuff and INstant mould...... Should be fairly simple to cast your own bits up from a master Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301373-homemade-servo-arms/#findComment-3908100 Share on other sites

I quite like that!! I did mention that I don't want to use 3rd party, i.e. not GW bits. That still stands... The purpose of this thread is to amass suggestion and bits that are NOT just making a mold of or magnetizing the back pack of an existing model... I'm looking for suggestions that can build a very unique and creative substitute for a servo arm. Ulrik_Ironfist
My thoughts went right to the Missile launcher backpack. Then someone mentioned the dev sgt pack, and I thought about some of the vehicle bits that I likely have rolling around. I have two of those dev packs, and several ML packs. Gotta say I'm thinking up some good things to build out of my bits box, I just need scads of leg bits and I can probably build 3 or four more packs of grey hunters and/or blood claws out of my spare bits, not to mention several good character models. I do kinda want an Iron Priest, as I have a Terminator Libby to stand in for Njal, and I have a rune priest, and Ulrik, all I need is the Iron Priest and I have the super formation from CoF. I'm thinking about getting the thunderfire cannon, and using that with a C:SM CAD, for a cheap auxiliary force. End of Line I have seen a solid job done using mostly plasticard-style materials, if you want to go that route. If you want GW stuff, but mostly bits-based, getting a servitor with a solid arm is a good starting point too. I dunno how that matchs up with your non-GW preference though, since it's basically sculpting at that point, however, it might give you some ideas for using GW bits too, assembly-wise.
