2000pt Alpha legion list. C&C/advice needed

So I've finally gotten around to putting together my first legion list (mainly thanks to Battlescribe), and I was hoping for some insight as to my decisions and choices.

 

HQ:

 

Legion Centurion: forge Lord Consul, Cataphracti Terminator armour, Chain Fist, Combi-bolter with Banestrike, Cortex Controller, Cyber Familiar, The Drakina relic. (275pts)

 

Navigator: Cyber Familiar. (65pts)

 

TROOPS:

 

Legion Tactical Squad: Artificer Armour, Power Dagger, Melta Bombs, Vexilla

Rhino: Heavy Bolter. (230pts)

 

Legion Tactical Squad: Artificer Armour, Power Dagger, Melta Bombs, Vexilla

Rhino: Heavy Bolter. (230pts)

HEAVY SUPPORT:

 

Castallax Battle-Automata Maniple: 2x Castallax, Darkfire Cannons, Flamers, 1x Siege Wrecker, advanced targeting relays, Infravisors. (285pts)

 

Sicarian Battle Tank: Lascannon Sponsons, Armoured Ceramite. (195pts)

2000pts on the nose.

 

So tactics are to infiltrate everything, save the Forgelord, Castallax, and mortis dreads. Two rhinos to one flank with a Sicarian, one to the other with the other sicarian. The Castallax advance from cover to cover up the field with the Forgelord, as a sort of but not quite bodyguard, looking for heavy tanks or fortifications to total. The Mortis stay backfield and provide AA and anti-tank.

 

The other option is to give everything but the Castallax Tank Hunters and wipe out armour in the early game, and use the sicarians to mop up after.

 

List gives:

32 infantry,

7 vehicles,

2 Monstrous Creature,

 

What could I optimise/change here to make it better/ more competitive?

Well firstly, as everyone else is going to recommend at some point or another, check out 1d4Chan's Warhammer Tactics page on the units, always a nice bit of Insight.

 

Secondly... uh, why the Lascannons on the Morti? I mean, if they're anti air I get that, but Lascannons are not all that efficient at taking out fliers from what I've been told. The weapon of choice around here tends to be the Kheres Assault Cannon, although the Autocannon also works fine. And before you bring up Anti-Tank, you have two Sicarans to pick up the slack on the heavier armor, and this way you can reliably take out any lighter armor on the field without risking the one shot las cannon rolling a one. Remember, fliers rarely go above 12 AV, because they rely on the foe not having Skyfire.

 

Also, you have Meltabombs too. And with the Catallax you pretty much have a dedicated Anti-Tank core, but you'll have trouble with anything approaching horde levels. Remember, Rhinos are METAL BAWKSES and go down to anything remotely anti-tank (or the Kheres/Autocannon) and while you have three squads (which combined with Infiltraite and thus outflank will be quite deadly, potentially) they are still regular space marines. IF anything survives the assault you lay down, then you're going to find your troops being decimated

 

Also I'm not sure that the Centurion gets LOS in that unit. Don't Alpha Legion have their own Terminators? They come with both anti-infantry and the option for anti-tank when you're sitting on a point and instead want to use the Forge Lord's repairing ability.

The Lascannons are as much a deterant here than anything else. In my local meta, flyers aren't that common, but land raiders are. One of the regulars that I see in the 30k lot tends to bring three to four and I have always struggled. Hence the las sponsons and Darkfire cannons.

At 2500/3000pts I was planning on adding a stormsword for horde killing, and I have looked at the terminators, but Im waiting on the official models for those, and won't add them to a list until they are there

I can equip one with khares, and may do just that at your suggestion, but the other is already built and equipped as I got it as a Christmas present, and it would be rude to return the arms (plus it looks awesome)

Well having one with Kheres is probably good enough, and on the plus side it would double as a great infantry mincer.
