Don't use dish soap on natural hair brushes. I knackered a nice brush up doing that!!!

If virgin olive oil + ecosafe dish washer soap works for natural hair makeup brushes, why wouldn't it work for paint brushes? *smh*

I was a muppet and just used the detergent. Can try it with olive oil but don't do it with just the dish soap.

Also, never wash your brush in hot water, as the glue in the ferrule that holds the bristles in will loosen off.

You think it would be better to remove paint, but just don't

So has anyone mentioned Masters? tongue.png

It's a great product and, at least for me, the little tub lasts forever.

I've noticed that tip splitting happens more quickly with my finer brushes.

Yes they have. I have been graced with a girlfriend that has decided to support the living crap out of my hobby, and she got me a tub. I was unsure about it before, but from these raving reviews I'm seeing I will definitely have to give it a shot on some of my old brushes.

I would like to chime in saying that the proposed Virgin Olive Oil + Ecosafe Dishwasher Soap mix did a great job of cleaning, conditioning and restoring about 7-8 of a dozen synthetic and sable brushes that had lost their tip and shapes.  It worked much better on sable brushes, but it still helped with synthetics.

It's probably not Master's level of cleaning, but it's still something you can do with what you have at home.

I use the masters cleaning soap but still have a few issue with my finer brushes "hooking" so Ill take all your advice on those. for basecoating, washing, and drybrushing I use cheap(er) hobby painting brushes except on fine detail, then I use the GW drybush.

Just a quick note: picked up some brush soap over the weekend (da vinci? Some European brand) and gave it a go. It cleaned my 5/0 really well, and straightened out the bristles that were starting to fray.

Also, the little block of it that I have will probably last forever.
