Lord Blackwood
So Im in the process of working on a White scars allied detachment which will fight alongside my great company. The main reason for this is to get access to some of the CSM toys while still having everything look like space wolves. The question certainly isint a pure wolves question cause to be honest folks fussing about allies and purity of lists just gets on my nerves. But yea , Im right now considering either having the allied force painted like the rest of my 14th Great company but with a single white accent on them to differentiate them / keep them tied to their roots. Fluff reasons being that they are a white scars successor that got om nom nomed down to a very small contingent and my Great company saved them when no one else showed up causing this uneasy alliance and working relationship that turned into brotherhood. But more importantly than that where do you think the white accent is best applied? Should it be a white accent at all? What would I even call this shattered brotherhood of the sons of the Khan living and fighting alongside my Deathmarked? wulfgar hammerfist
I would just paint them the same as the rest of my army and ensure my opponent understands which models are using rules from another codex. Lord Blackwood
Then it is decided the 14th Great company Are bullies and told the white scars " if you want to hang out with us you gotta paint yer armor cause Bjorn Swiftsword is Tremendously OCD about symmetry! ^ I have no issue with this XD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301522-adopting-battle-brothers-painting-adopted-battle-brothers/#findComment-3910420 Share on other sites
Donkalleone
I would mostly paint them the same but for example paint the shoulderpads or helmets white/light grey for suptle but easily recognizeable difference. Vash113
Well I have an allied detachment from the Blood Angel codex and fluff-wise they are just more Space Wolves, painted and modeled the same as the rest of my army. Wolves are diverse enough that you can really justify having units equipped or fighting like other chapters without having to make them elements of another chapter. Besides absorbing other chapters into your own without sanction by the High Lords is a big no-no, look what happened to the Astral Claws! It wasn't their only crime, but it was one of them! Rune Priest Jbickb
I second Donkalleone. I agree paint em the same as the but if I was your opponent I would like a little more help identifying which codex was which especially if there is both space wolf and white scars bikers. Valerian
Here is a great example of how to do this very thing. Dam13n's Space Wolf Grand Army is a combination of units from Codex Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Blood Angels, and Space Marines, but they're all painted as Space Wolves for a terrific consistent look. There is a link to this thread, as well as many other helpful threads, up in the Resources thread that is pinned to the top of The Fang.
