I find it kinda humuorus that there's this one traitor heretic being shot down by one initiate, yet everyone else more or less completely ignore him. Your marshal in particular, have absolutely no the time in the world to even care about the lowly heretic, even though he's directly to his right.

There. Now that I poked fun at it, let me remedy the whole thing by saying I absolutely love it. At some point I need to do something similar for mine. Very easy way to get a diorama

OH that's because he's seen the enemy witch in the backfield and he's eager to go and have a chat about about remorse, penance and the redeeming virtue of big flaming swords.

Some closeups :

So, my armies on parade submission has been handed in as I am about to leave the country for the weekend.

Unfortunately, my friendly local GW manager has informed me that the theme for november's painting contest is Halloween, so I had the crazy idea as illustrated below :

http://reho.st/self/37d4f0a8cfc7f5a42e72b18882f5c5dd5c339c45.jpg

The white dude on the left is a Thousand Son sorcerer, he'll be standing on a fire pit and chained to the pillars.

The black dude on the right is a kitbashed Huron Blackheart (I got the body for free but nothing else out of someone's bit box). He's supposed to look like he's ringing the doorbell. The sign at the back behind Calgar and Huron reads :

For the inside walls of the chapter keep frat house, I figured it'd be nice to have a few posters, so around the doors I plan to have :

http://reho.st/self/2105569af06b2bfb5b4e28120cb361269039044a.jpg and the old classic http://reho.st/self/38a087c9c184bd30f3babaf9682e6a8f2ec5bed2.jpg

What do you think ? Is it too irreverent ?

Here I was thinking this was a visual for a Knock Knock joke:

A: Knock, knock

B: Who's there?

A: ZEAL!

B: Zeal who?

A: ZEAL YOU! <impales traitor behind the door with chainsword>

On the other hand, have fun with your display. I think you could pull this off (frat party).

Sorry for not getting back sooner on this. For cloaks, I just make a thin sheet of green stuff that I cut and fold to shape. I let it cure a bit with the rough shape in place before I actually glue it to the model for final adjustments. On the shoulder pad, once the main cape is attached I add some small rolls of GS to give the impression of the cloth folding where it pools to the pin that attaches it.

Update on the Halloween "diorama"

Please note that the witch will be chained to the pillars and that the Blood Raven marine is a place-holder and will be replaced by a proper son on Sigismund. What do ye think of my brazier ?

A view of the posters :

The Fenrisian Wolf represents Digital Weapons. Problem solved.

THIS!

That's how I've ended up playing it and no one has complained so far.

Very nice and you don't see eyes that color, so nice touch!

Thanks. I have plenty enough red on most of my models with the purity seals and weapon casings, so green eyes provide with a nice contrast colour.

The skull is a nice touch.

Glad people appreciate it. Again, it's not my own idea but for the life of me I can't recall who came up with it.

Base done, now I need only get into a few more games so that I can have a few more skulls to add, even tho that may seem a bit khorny.

I'm doing some testing on my new "photo studio" (ergo a DIY lightbox). Do you believe the following photo does justice to the models, or would you go for a different background ?

WIP.

I still need to work on the power sword, but I'm having my doubt on whether I should paint it with the power field "on". I have it magnetised as well anyway in case I have to play with a rule stickler that wants to see a chainsword.

I also want to add a cape (as with all my other veterans).

Amazing progress. Your WIP looks great, it has a "it's almost done" quality to it. With your plan of adding a cape, I must say that's a shame you haven't done that earlier. The model is pretty cool without the cape, IMO. It seems to me that integrating a cape to the model in its current state may be difficult. You'll also probably have to find a way to position it in so that it won't obscure the holstered pistol - it would be a shame to cover it up.
