Ciler
Looks great, which spray paint did you use to apply the white onto your vehicles? Edit: Oops I thought I was at the end of this thread. Termis look great too! Corax white, 2 thin layers, following several hours of labour with masking tape. Ciler
As part of a trade I made, I got a rather weird conversion of a ravenwing apothecary base with a mechanicum shoulder pad and techmarine head. It's been sitting on my bench for a while but I think I've figured out what to do with it at last. Templar techmarine on bike with conversion beamer. I'm also trying to figure out how to procure a servo arm.http://reho.st/self/13b0ed31398fc3d5ef3380b55ccb8a6b165f0c39.jpg The power axe is actually made of two axes blades, and the remaining aft of one of the axes is the conversion beamer/shoulder canon in place of the spotlight on the apothecary backpack. Said spotlight is now used as an extra thruster on the back of the bike (which you can barely see from this angle) I haven't filed the wing symbols on the front because i intend to cover them with crusader/purity seals, I haven't done so at this stage because I want to see some paint on first to make sure I don't overload it with bling. What do ye think ? From a gameplay perspective, I'm thinking it makes for an amusing HQ for 105 pts. Run in the backfield, shooting S8/AP4 or S10/AP1 large blasts, can grab objectives. It's no thunderfire cannon in staying and fire power, but it's still going to be difficult to shift (T5, 2+, jink if needs be) and a royal pain in the neck. Edit : curse, it's regular not large blast, not quite as good as I though. Ciler
Progress report, please excuse the oversized picture as I'm posting from my phone. http://reho.st/medium/self/54223ffc076d9d8b1287cf87d978d76282018c9a.jpg The base needs to be washed and drybrushed, and there's a fleck on silver on the helmet that I need to remove. AndrewChristlieb
Looking good there, still see some DA iconography though. ;) I always saw the conversion beamer as being a lot bigger, but the compact version looks really good and great use of a spare bit. Ciler
Further progress on hiding the last remaining DA symbols and a different angle. Please forgive the grainy, oversized photo. http://reho.st/https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t34.0-12/14825626_1134720583311795_1187734251_n.jpg?oh=f590034d4b799ff8f99e34bc1bce574e&oe=5817903C Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301583-the-thracian-crusade-gather-the-brethren/page/7/#findComment-4547788 Share on other sites
Brother Christopher
Great model. A nice blend of mechanics and Black Templars. I'm happy to see that you've removed DA symbols and am still not sure about the size of the beamer (though, it makes sense from a 'real world' perspective for a mobile unit to have a compact weapon). My only remark would be the Templar cross which suggests affiliation to the Reclusiam. But it looks cool. Also, I think that the red bolters and the additional armour on the front mudguard are extremely nice touches - they look outstanding and suggest that the bike belongs to a techmarine. Ciler
Thanks for the praise. As for the pauldron, it's more of an executive decision to have all my HQs with the black and white cross rather than just the reclusiam. Ciler
So, I have sorted my network issues and been able to properly process photos, so here's a cleaner shot of the finished techmarine and of my apothecary, since i never uploaded it. Ciler
+++Transmission received++++++Priority Alpha Status+++Lord High Marshal Helbrecht,The band of traitors we are hunting on your orders has taken refuge in a space hulk recently re-entered from the warp. This hulk is being investigated by an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor as one of the wrecks it contains is broadcasting a 10 millennia old imperial emergency signal indicating presence of rogue psykers onboard. The inquisitor has petitioned our assistance in clearing the hulk. He appears to be a strong willed servant of the Emperor and has observed all protocols in petitioning for our assistance rather than requesting it. Unless instructed otherwise I plan to proceed with the clearing of the hulk and identification of the imperial vessel. Ciler
And it's done ! Introducing the Lord Inquisitor Morken from the Ordo Hereticus http://reho.st/self/050ce87209518724c3b233af4491bb28a5acc616.jpg The device on his right vambrace is a psych-out grenade launcher (sniper scout binoculars, PO grenades are the blue thinguies on the same side from the scout kit also), and although he is no Ordo Maleus, the skull on his left pauldron is that of a daemon that thought he could enter the materium via a rogue psyker the Inquisitor was "interrogating" - and he hates being interrupted during an interrogation. That and the haft of the spear, which acts as a convenient null rod. I'm not going to lie, the original model has a pretty badass pose all right. To be frank, it's the best Inquisitor conversion I've seen in a while if not ever. Thank you for those kind words sir. Ciler
+++Transmission received+++ +++Priority Alpha Status+++ Lord High Marshal Helbrecht, We have advanced toward the source of the signal and identified it as a VIIth legion strike cruser attached to the first company, that of our first High marshal, Sigismund himself. As we push through the ship, we have secured an armoury that had remained sealed and found inside a number of still functioning battle plates, including a mark of terminator armour which my techmarine indicates as "Cataphractii", as well as a number of artificer made mark IVs. As we move forward, our enemy summons daemons to harass our flanks. However their sorcery seems unreliable as those daemons sometimes vanish out of existence without contact. The inquisitor reckons that the Emperor has turned is gaze to our work and is clearing a path forward for us. Ciler
This is the point where I hope you guys will go "I see what you did there". Quixus
Looks good for a chaplain. After removing the bunny ears, this would also make a decent skull helmet. Honda
Also, does the head scream "Chaos marine" too much or do you think it'll pass as a skull helmet ? Nope, I love that helmet for chaplains. In fact, that is what I used for my Grimaldus conversion. I liked your converted marshal so much, I've acquired one of those models for a future conversion. I may have to "borrow" your chaplain idea as well. :) Cheers, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301583-the-thracian-crusade-gather-the-brethren/page/7/#findComment-4596337 Share on other sites
