Kilofix
When exactly was Mk.V armor in general use and by whom? It looks like by the time of Phall, Mk.VI was already available but there haven't really been any depictions (in IA at least) of general use of Mk.V prior. I understand that Mk.V was just a stop gap but does that mean that it saw only very limited issue? And, if so, who ended up getting them? Thanks for the info. Grotsmasha
IIrc, mkV is a catch-all for hodge-podge, mix and match armour suits made necessary by The Heresy. I would say anytime starting from Istvaan is a safe bet. jeremy1391
The MK5 suits from forgeworld are more prototypes of aspects of MK6/7 put into production as fast as possible to equip marines on both sides due to battle damage and loss of the more advanced MK4 suits, whereas in the novels any "mixed suit" is considered MK5. Afaik that is. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301677-when-exactly-was-mkv-armor-used-again/#findComment-3913445 Share on other sites

Any mark of armour that had not received official sanction by the Mechanicus (such as the armour used by the XIIIth in Betrayer, I forget the name for it) was classified as Mark V until such time as it received sanction. So in effect, Mark VI would have been classified as Mark V while it was undergoing testing by the XIXth Legion.
