Converting a land raider into a MK IIB

Recommended Posts

So I really like the MKIIB land raider from forge world, yet the price and the fact if I were to give my wolves one it would be a redemer puts me off the kit so I was thinking of maybe using plasticard ect to convert a land raider redeemer into a MkIIB, I remember there were some templates floating around a few years ago, are they still available?

There is a thread here at B&C about making one from scratch:

But Quixus is correct. There are no Mk2b Crusaders or Redeemers in the published fiction. Of course, that's not really a reason not to make one. Perhaps your Chapter owned a Mk2b whose weapons became inoperable, and the Techmarines updated the hull with hurricane bolters or a Flamestorm cannon as a stopgap measure.

Or a more audacious Techmarine thought that would be a good idea for an old Land Raider with a particularly aggressive machine spirit. I know heresy, right?

BTW the chapterhouse kit is $25. It does show an unsanctioned weapon configuration though. I would totally take that configuration if it were allowed, especially with an added MM.

Does anyone know if it is feasible to buy a land raider, the crusader/redemer upgrade and the chapterhouse kit and make one land raider that can be equipped as any of the non-forgeworld configurations?

I was thinking fluffwise it would be a relic from the great crusade, passed down from Great company to great company, before being crippled sometime following the age of apostacy, and ending up sitting in the fang for a millenia or so, and when my wolflord took to rebuilding the great Company after Bjorn's folly  (the great wolf, not the dread) found it in the fang and had it recomissioned it for his wolf guard.
The chapterhouse kit looks, good, anyone know if the forge world land raider doors would fit? Not sure on the central bit so may try my own hand at it.
The thread doesn't have a tutorial in it and my search didn't bring anything up, was there ever one made for it?

I can't speak to the CH kit, but buying a regular Land Raider and the LRC/Redeemer upgrade is exactly what I did for my third Land Raider. I'm skipping the Crusader sponsons though,a s I already have two old, metal Crusaders. You end up with enough sponsons and doors to put a magnet in the door frame to which to attach complete sponson mounts, instead of trying to put magnets inside the guns.

No idea on the tutorial, but the author of that post, jimbo1701, is still an active member. You might PM him and see if he made one, or has any resources for you. Just click his name in any of the posts, and go from there.

As with FW's mkIIB, CHS's conversion kit uses Rhino sized doors (just double checked mine), so as long as FW has Rhino doors for your chapter, you're all good.

Cheers,

I know it works with the normal land raider cf. this tutorial. I just wondered how to do it with the chapterhouse kit. I think they only give you two of those cylinders housing the weapons and the method used in the tutorial above does not look like it would work on the kit. Putting a magnet on the top and the bottom of such a cylinder and into the hull of the land raider would be so easy, but no...

End then there is the whole problem of finding a seller on the other side of the Atlantic.
