How to: Exiled Raven Guard

While assembling the mkII armours for my Death Guard, I started to picture the following.

How could a Raven Guard force be represented if needed to be: "exiled", embarked, assault-oriented in the mid, mid-to-late crusade era?

I wanted to produce one Predation fleet force that could be seen as the origin of the Space Sharks chapter. I know I'm cheesy pleb but their RT logo with beakies armour makes me go "full-freddie-mercury" in the coziness of my private rooms.

Jokes aside, first issue: the Death Guard I am working on right now has a mix of mkII&III armours for setting and fluff reasons.

I am unsure in the choice for the main armour model: I'd prefer to go with the mk45&6 mixture rather than more crusade-era marks.

Second: since it looks to me that there still no a commonly accepted view on the Sharks origin and evolution how could I interpret them? After reading around I focused on the idea that they belonged to those more brutally offensive units which by composition or command were outside of Corax's vision of His Raven Guard, and so cast aside. Is this acceptable to go after a really offensive RG force?

Also and last: should I focus on an infantry/drop force, or I could pick also a couple Spartans and Predators? I'd love both while my DG is mildly equipped with 2 Scorpius and a Vindicator.

Sorry for long text, I look forward to your suggestions.

The fluff for my Pre-Carcharodon Carcharodons aka Terran XIX Marines is that they were send ot the outer space and re-entered Imperial space after the 3rd year of the HH, and swear their allegiance to Imperator Sanguinius and the Imperium Secundus. MK IV, V and VI armour may be loot from boarded Traitor ships ;)

The Galaxy is your oyster, you are just tied by your imagination.

There isn't much information on the Pred fleet and I doubt we will ever see a lot of info. You can do them as you please. Go as offensive as you please. The 'pale nomads' appear to be closer to the night lords in terms of mentality, in the sence they believe in control through force. Horus used the XIX as his own personal War Hawks, to tear out the throat of his enemies while his spear hit the heart.

They do t even have to be officially exiled by Corax. There are a lot of marines, a lot of companies, a lot of war zones. They may have never been recalled, or never had the time to meet thier 'sire'. They just kept fighting thier wars.

As for armour, again, your choice. I don't think there is any thing that says a legion has to be restricted, except that Mark VI was a prototype. But a prototype the XIX legion heavily tested. The Imperial Administration department probally sent it out to all parts of the XIX legion.

If your using the RG rules you will be limited somewhat in using tanks, but as long as you keep within the rules, or if you don't care about them, take what eve tanks you want.

Thanks Hydra and Reyner, I just read.

I will spend some time thinking about a plausible reason for the MKVI armours: I could move the timetable a bit after the brokeout  of the Heresy and find a simpler way to explain it.

Tanks won't be a problem: any self sufficient embarked unit would have a limited amount, so the RG rules won't be bent. I just aimed for a single spartan anyway the rest is going to drop...

Very good suggestions thus far. My own assertion on the early Space Sharks are they are thrown into the vast void in predation fleets, and set on out furthering the Great Crusade while the heresy breaks out unbeknownst to them. I see them fighting xenos, expanding the empire of man, and perhaps only near the end of the civil war do they come back to the mess -- and even then, I tend to think they show up after everything's gone down, and the High Lord of Terra go "Um... Yes! Space Sharks, created during the [insert number] founding!"as if nobody noticed they were original XIX.

One thing I've noticed is that Jarl Guiiliman is willing and able to break or stretch rules that hinder the Imperium.

I see no reason why he wouldnt "doctor" some documents during his sweeping changes to reintroduce a loyal force.

Also remember in the aftermath of the Heresy the Inquisition was born. Who is to say they dis not authorise the 'formation' of chapters suck as the space sharks and the minotaurs. Records can be changed to make them a chapter of a certain founding when they need to be unleashed.

and frankly, the Lord of Ultramar WAS the military of the Imperium in the early years.

It was he and Russ that led the Scouring.

It was his Legion that provided the majority of the new Chapters

It was his Codex that created the Imperial Guard and Navy.

Guiiliman had power and sway that Horus could only dream of, and relinquished it.

WLK

Did he relinquish it or was he mortally wounded and frozen to be a a Han solo esque monument for pilgrims?

He relinquished it into the hands of the High Lords, which each of the surviving Primarchs were part of.

There are some fault and flaws in Jarl Guiiliman, but he understood empire building better than any of his brothers.

WLK

He does remain the power behind the High Lords untill his, death/stasis lock though. He is no Horus in the sence of becoming a tyrant, that's for sure, but he isn't a Sulla, relinquishing power altogether.

(I am not saying he is like Sulla btw, I know Guilliman doesn't take complete control of the governance of the Imperium like Sulla did in Rome)
