Theredknight
Since fast attack slots are filled with ras now. Anyone using quick meltas like the old days? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/ Share on other sites
Zeller
Still the best heavy anti-tank in my book. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/#findComment-3914509 Share on other sites
Deschenus Maximus
No, I wouldn't use attack bikes anymore. Now that normal bikes have access to gravguns, I'd rather take those. I will add a MM AB to the squad, though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/#findComment-3914534 Share on other sites
Chaplain Gunzhard
I haven't used them yet, but I find it interesting that attackbikes with mm are one of the few things in the whole book that actually went up in price (barely). JamesI
I still like attack bikesk but I have not yet used them. Still seems like a good melta platform, though probably not as good as pod assault marines. hairojin
I use two as separate units. I think they are good if your list needs some cheap anti tank and you don't want to use pod assault squads. SamaNagol
Pod Assault Squads with triple melta are probably better in terms of flexibility Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/#findComment-3915020 Share on other sites
Deschenus Maximus
Pod Assault Squads with triple melta are probably better in terms of flexibility Funny, I'd say the opposite. Once the pod melta are down and they've blown their load, they're not going to be doing much, really. I disagree, while yes it's just 5 marines, having a couple of these squads in the backfield gives your opponent some tough decisions if you also have some other jump units bearing down on him. The four melta shots a turn are going to hurt anything else pretty easily in the coming turns - so they at least provide some target saturation. They could also tie up some fire-bases in assault Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/#findComment-3915079 Share on other sites
Daddywarcrimes
I'm still using them because Imperial Knights exist and I need high mobility melta units to stretch their shields. I did briefly consider double MM landspeeders, but T5 bikes are still far more durable than AV10 vehicles. Jolemai
For twenty more points you get three Attack Bikes armed with Multi Meltas. This equates to greater range, mobility and durability (toughness and wounds) over first turn usage. Certainly, the affectionately known "Meltacide" unit could ideally do with a friend (i.e another Pod's worth of stuff) to keep it alive but that requires a third Pod to do this whereas the Attack Bike is likely to be with support when it moves up. All in all, it depends on your army and what you want. Jolemai
Conversely, a triple Melta Command Squad with either Jump Packs or a Drop Pod are around a similar sort of points. Add in Storm Shields for an extra thirty points are you solve the durability problem on the Meltacide unit. L30n1d4s
I think 3 MM attack bikes can actually be a cheap, durable, and effective escort for Dante: -They provide 6 T5 wounds to absorb lots of small arms shooting -Majority T5 means Dante gets to treat shooting attacks on himself as if he is T5 as well -The entire unit can move 12" a turn and the attack bikes can jink for a 4+ cover save if required (and Dante has his 4++ all the time) -Once near the enemy, the Attack Bikes can split off and target one vehicle or unit with their MMs while Dante charges another with his 6 x S7 AP2 I6 attacks on the charge. -Dante adds another melta weapon (albeit very short ranged) to the unit for a total of 4 melta shots a turn and he also gives the Attack Bikes Hit and Run to assist them in getting out of combat and back to shooting again. hairojin
Also, attack bikes are great for grabbing objectives in maelstrom missions. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/#findComment-3915212 Share on other sites

Therefor, target priority becomes very easy. Can Dante join a squad of attack bikes? I thought he's a different unit type. Unless this has chnanged and he can now, in which case that would be really cool Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301730-anyone-using-attack-bikes-still/#findComment-3915331 Share on other sites
