The Runic Armor Question

I think RA is a must.  If you are already paying over 150 points - you want that guy as survivable as possible.

 

It goes SS first, kraksword next, runic armour (for me).  Only if I was playing 500points would I lose the RA.

 

Also bear in mind that one of the Warlord traits on CoF is reroll one save per turn.  This turns your 2+ guy into a missile tanking beast.  2+ with re-roll means only 1 in 36 shots is going to hurt him (as long as they aren't AP2 of course) AND it gives you so much confidence to stick the hits on the Warlord because you know you can re-roll.  Even IF you then lose a wound - you then have 2+ LoS AND 2+ save if that is failed.

 

I literally tanked 60 shots from some devilgaunts recently and took 1 wound on my TWC (and none on the Battleleader).

 

(By the way .... WolfGuard Battle Leader over Lord anyday for me.  The cost saving is epic).

Runic armor is kind of expensive, but I put it on everyone who can take it.  I've never understood why Ulric and Ragnar didn't have the best armor the Space Wolves could afford.  It makes me wonder if they didn't do something to upset someone in the supply department...   "Sorry Ragnar, that new set of Runic Armor is still on order.  I'll call again today, but there's no telling when it will get here."

The Iron Priests got pretty pissed going through all that work fabricating that giant wolf head on his shoulder pad, and now he want's a new set of RA... your going to have to wait Ragnar.

 

And Ulric's stupid/awesome helm is actually attached to his armor, like, they've welded it on there. It's going to take a dozen IPs with not **** else to do to rework his.

(Although honestly, Ulric seems like an uber-cheap beatstick/force enhancer. Am I wrong to have that impression? I know he can be AP2 and AP3'd to bits, but other than that?)
