Donkalleone
Im currently building my Army and Starting with the HQs. I need now a Good Balanced Mix and want some input what to Build. It shouldnt be a Ultra COmpetentive one but the right Choices. All are on Foot, no TWC are intended for now. PA:I have now 2 RunePriest, Ulrik and Krom (Sanctum Reach). So for now there are 2 PA "slots" Free.I have the Intention to Build an SS/Sword(KBS/FF) and looked at a Costom Ragnar Build or a regular WolfPriest. TDA:I have Arjac or SS/TH HQ and have 2/3 Slots Free.My Intention is again a SS/Sword(KBS/FF) and WP TDA.Im thinking of Building a RunePriest TDA but in all honesty i want the Njal Modell for That. I have a bunch of WGPA/WGBL and TDAS that i want to Magnetize to extend so i dont plan to have Magentized HQs. I also dislike the Idea of Axes, Fist or THs on HQ cause they cant use ther I5 then. What do you think should be added to the Pack? Are my intended Choises Bad or Good? Daevohk
If you must be on foot, it is hard to find anyone more universally useful than Ulrik. Are you intending to bring 6 HQ? Unless you have a very good reason to do so, that is probably way too many points sunk into way too few models. Frater Cornelius
Why not get Njal as Njal instead of a RP. Njal is damn a damn amazing offensive psyker, because he can re-roll failed tests when casting Tempestas. But even if you are choosing a different discipline, he is still your only ML3 psyker. rgr_maddog
If you are including TDA HQ's, be sure to model one awesomely to represent the Armour of Asvald Stormwrack. Is the It Will Not Die special rule worth an extra 10 points, maybe. However, it was recently pointed out in another thread here that there is no exchange of wargear for this TDA upgrade. Meaning, among other things, you can keep your grenades and always strike at initiative- which you state is important to you. Valerian
Interesting. I'll have to check this out, but if true, then you can also keep your pistol and get that extra close combat attack that is normally not available in TDA, outside of going dual Claws. Otherwise, Njal is the only dude in the galaxy that gets to keep his pistol in TDA. Donkalleone
I have a Follow Up Question. its about the Bases. There are 2 Options for me to use. The First are the new 32mm bases which is legal and will differentiate from the regular 25mm Base PA. OR Buy these Premade 25mm Bases for them to stand out. http://shop.microartstudio.com/images/Battle_Bases/B00121_Bbases_Ruins_Round25mm.jpg Whats your opinion on that? Frater Cornelius
I prefer 32mm for characters. Looks more imposing and leaves more space for base decoration. Rift Blade
It's an HQ, 32 mm base to make it stand out. My 2 cents. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301962-which-hq-to-build/#findComment-3928894 Share on other sites
Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I have a couple power armor HQ models that are on larger bases solely due to the fact that would not fit onto the smaller bases size. They do look cool on bigger bases!! I would build HQ's that fit into how you view your army. I never leave home without my ML 2 TDARP. Is he optimal?? I don't care, that's not how I play the game. Does he look killer and have countless tales of heroism to his legacy?? Hell yeah he does. I would model up the TDAWL with SS/KBS-FF-PS. It's a combat monster. Yesterday, mine took down Gazgul Thrakaha (spelling??) after he locked him down for the turn he waaaaag'd (gives him a 2++ until the Ork players next turn) , shrugged off his attacks and came back with 5 wounds (thanks to Fellclaw's Teeth, mind you) for the Ork big boss man. It was some lucky rolling for me, but over all the load out is great for establishing your presence on the battlefield!! I went 40mm for my characters, to help them standout, so I'd definitely go 32mm at a minimum. If you can get your hands on any, that is; GW keeps showing out of stock on the US site every time I check.
