Would a Baal Predator sponson fit standard Predator weapons?

Yo!

Would a Baal predator sponson fit the weapons from a standard predator sponson? I have looked at the details of the vertical shaft to which the weapon (heavy bolter or las cannon) is attached, and it appears to be slightly different between the two. Same applies to the "eye" connector which goes at the top or bottom.

However, while they (Baal preds) principally use heavy flamers on the side, they do also support heavy bolters.

There seems to be a plate or something which, from the pictures on the GW site, dont have any structural necessity and appear to be purely aesthetic.

I ask, as I built the side sponsons on a pred without thinking about magnetizing it for both options and so have to buy another sponson. Baal seems to be the only ones i can find at the mo.

Cheers

You'd have to do some converting to make that work.

The regular Predator sponson mount enters through a slot in the centre top of the gun only, with no support below.

The Baal sponson runs all the way top to bottom with plates at both ends, the gun and ammo feed are mounted either side of the pole and join round the back.

You might be able to fit Baal guns on the Predator mount, but the Baal mount is way better than the wobbly Predator one. To mount Predator lascannons on the Baal mount, you're going to have to carve a slot right the way through the weapon, and from memory I think the cables would be in the way.

The simplest solution, if you have a Baal Predator and a Predator sponson sprue, is build them both separately and swap the entire sponson over. Painting two sponson plates is bound to be quicker than making one plate work for all three guns.

You'd have to do some converting to make that work.

Yeah, if you can get some extra sponson fittings off ebay, and then swap out the whole thing, then you just have to put 2 large magnets on the hull and the sponson, instead of converting/fiddling.

Granted it costs more, but it is easier, and you can be guaranteed it'll work, and not realise halfway through cutting into the sponson fittings/weapon 'oh crap this wont work' and have ruined one or more pieces (it may work, but i tend to be paranoid about those things), and then it ends up costing even more since you'd need to buy replacements in addition to the spare sponson bits.

You'd have to do some converting to make that work.

Yeah, i think this might have to be the way to go. As i have some spare HB sprues (no Baal HF for me: im a heretic, you see!), i thought i could just use the Baal sponson structure for the weapons. Ill see what i can get my hands on.

Indeed, better safe than sorry!
