Exterminator or eradicator?

Well, if you're wanting details then...

The Exterminators weapon is a great mid-capability weapon that pairs well with the Punisher Cannon, as long as said Punisher Cannon has rending.

Both go after infantry well.

Both can inflict harm on Monstrous Creatures.

Both can hurt armor, albeit light armor in the Exterminator's case.

Add a lascannon to the Exterminator as well (sponsons should be Heavy Bolters or Multimeltas depending on the role you have in mind for the unit.)

In comparison, the Eradicator has one, and only one, clear role. It kills light infantry really well. The problem is that it does that whether Pask is hanging out nearby or not. With an Eradicator, if you want Pask to do anything more than take Pathfinders out of ruins then you'll have to make Ld9 every time, which you won't (I've failed my last six tank orders checks.)

While on the topi of tank buddies for Pask, I had a specific question about prefered enemy: I run an Executioner as Pasks buddy. I've read somewhere along the way that prefered enemy allows rerolls of gets hot, the last line of gets hots hints at this but its a little vague, I was curious if this is in fact the case?

As far as I can tell, Preferred Enemy allows you to re-roll failed Gets Hot rolls

Gets Hot and Re-rolls

If a model has the ability to re-roll its rolls To Hit (including because of BS6+ or the Twin-linked special rule), a Wound is only suffered if the To Hit re-roll is also a 1; it may also re-rll Gets Hot results of 1 for weapons that do not roll To Hit

Preferred Enemy

.....A unit that contains at least one model with this special rule re-rolls failed To Hit and To Wound rolls of 1 if attacking its preferred enemy.

Preferred Enemy lets you re-roll to hit dice, and the ability to re-roll to hit dice lets you re-roll Gets Hot if the weapon doesn't roll to hit.
