Hail Brothers!

So I'm thinking about the list I made up (first ever) an I put a frost axe on the WGBL TWC guy leading my force.  But it got me thinking.  Shouldn't he be ready to lay down the hurt on his foes with as many attacks as he can before his enemy gets a chance to fight back?  So isn't a frost sword better?  (Not to mention the Krakenboner?)  Or do I not sweat the attacks on him because he has runic armor and the SS 2+/3++ save to keep him alive and then deliver the chop chop with +2s and AP2?  Not to mention his hammer of wrath is S7 as opposed to S6 on the charge w/ the frost axe.

If you want a Frost Axe then use the codex and take Armour of Russ instead of Runic. It gives your opponent in a challenge -5 to its initiative. If you take it on a WGBL he will have a 2+4++ as well I believe, leaving a hand open for a pistol and +1 attack.

A Wolf Claw is better than a Frost Blade in some cases. Decide if you want shred or +1 attack from sword and pistol pairing

I'd suggest a fist or a krakenbone sword. Even with rending, i'd recommend ap2 or s8+ for ID (preferably both). How many wounds do you hope to cause against a 3+ wound character with a 2+ save? Krakenbone might kill such a character (if they have a 3++ your odds aren't good though). A frost sword will struggle.

What about the armour of russ to reduce you opponents initiative right down, then take a wolf claw and a fist? That way you have the option to choose the hight strength and low ap or to strike first. Both of them are specialist weapons too, so you get the +1 atk for being armed with two melee weapons.

I thought hammer of wrath was on base stats.

Speed matters little when you can take abuse like a champ. Having said that, when you are going last, you should it right and bring S10 with hammer or fist.

Why not taking a Frost Sword? Because you need AP2 most of the time.

So, do you want a tanky dude? Get Krakenbone Sword, Stormshield, TWM, Runic Armour and Fellclaw's Teeth.

240pts you get T5, 4W, 2+/3++, 5-6 attacks with S6 AP2 at I5, re-roll failed hits in melee.

Or do you want all-out choppy? Get Lord on TWM, Runic Armour, Wolf Claw, Power Fist, Fellclaw's Teeth or Helm of Durfast (depending on which book you are using).

235-240 points. You get T5, 4W, 2+/4++, 6-7 attacks with re-roll to hit and you get to choose between S6 AP3 Rending Shred at I5 or S10 AP2 at I1. If it moves, this guy can kill it.

Unless it is Draigo, then you might as well bend over :D

It's the issue with armour of russ, I never want to take an unwieldy weapon if I take it as I feel that wastes the -5 int, though he is ironically going to survie most stuff thrown at him.
I'm Thinking of running a rune priest, level 2, psychic hood, armour of russ and runic staff with biomany,depending on his powers he should hopefully be able to cause enough wounds to get through 2+ and pop tongue.png
Has anyone had luck with a wolf guard battle leader in runic armour and frost axe, or one with frost sword and plasma pistol if your feeling cheap, with armour of russ thrown in if you have the points?
Main problem with a batlle leader and Wolf lords is that they don't seem to bring that much when compared to the priests, especially if your trying to save points.
