chenley Posted January 17, 2015 Share Posted January 17, 2015 I have a number of Terminator Squads that I will be painting up as Blood Angels. I remember back in 2nd Edition that the Blood Angel Terminators Squads had the left hand (usually the power fist/chain fist/power sword hand) painted black, and each squad had a slight variation. One squad might have just the fingers black, another might have just the back of the hand, and another the entire hand. Does anyone have any info on this that supports this and goes more in-depth? any Links or sources? chenley Posted January 18, 2015 Author Share Posted January 18, 2015 I have searched the books I have here, the 2 most recent BA 'dex, How to Paint Space Marines, Codex Angels of Death, Space Hulk 2nd & 3rd editions, and nothing mentioning about the fists, but the terminators squads were not identified as per normal Blood Angels squad identification, but by name. awilden Posted January 18, 2015 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Looking at the current and 5th edition BA codex, it seems that all the terminators have black left fists/claws, though the sergeants that have power swords have normal coloured gloves, so it seems all the powerfists/chainfists/lightning claws are all black at least in the 5/7th edition codex. Just going by what i see, haven't read any fluff regarding it, so it could be a choice by the blokes painting it, and there's no reason to do it? I have to say it looks interesting, and adds flavour to the colour scheme, and the sergeants all seem to have black left shoulder pads except the assault sergeant in the new codex for some reason, it appears he has a black right shoulder pad? Probably not too much help with regards to what they should have, just thought I'd tell you what's in both of the recent books and anyone else can add fluff reasons from the content of the books if they exist for terminators. Could that be the angle? All BA sergeants, veteran sergeants and squad leaders have black pads with red trim, as per their scheme. The black left hands...well. I have never found a reason as to why they do it in 17 years of plying BA. The Angels of Death just note that they do it, but not why. The 2nd ed Space hulk ones also have hazard stripe fists if I remember correctly. The BA terminator squads also have traditional names, such as Damnator, Vexator, etc, so are not always named directly after the sergeant.
