angrom
Hi!, I Post my list idea for inquisition with grey knights here also as there is some GK combo in it Here is a new list for 1500 pts This list is meant to be fluff and fun to avoid to play the boring mono-list from grey knight codex I intentionally decided to ignore enemies flyer as we don't have any way to deal with them without a huge point investment. The whole idea behind this list is to stick with the highly efficient and fast brutal attack that grey knight and inquisition are suppose to be (at least for me) To do so i have a GK nemesis strike formation with either a Grand master or a librarian and 2 terminator unit and a dreadknight. The inquisition will bring the HQ strike assassin unit with few crusader to absorb shots at the first turn a priest to make the unit robust in melee and a psyker with divination to improve hits all in a Chimera. And a AP support unit with Coteaz (aiming in telepathy for invisibility or dissimulation) in 3 heavy plasma servants with a Jakaero The whole idea is to put the librarian or the grand master (equipped with a teleport homer) with the ordo xenos inquisitor in the assassin unit in a chimera. The liber heresius from the inquisitor will allow me to make a scout deployment up to 12" from my deployment area and so on first turn the 2 terminator unit and the dreadknight will deep strike 6" without scatter in front of my HQ unit and then will have a movement phase. The chimera will move 6" and HQ will disembark and sprint So at the end of first turn the 2 terminator unit the dreadknight and the HQ assassin unit will be at less than 12" from enemies units (if the table is not 2 meters deep) ready to assault on turn 2 (Just have to hold a shooting phase). To do so the combo Librarian Or grand master GK will aim in sanctic for sanctuary (or at worst the dreadknight) to bring the invu save of the crusader to 2++ and assassin to 4++ to make sure that at least a good part of the assassin and the HQ will survive the first shooting phase. That is where i hesitate between a GK grand master (which will bring some more punch to the assassin unit) but have only 1/2 chance to get sanctuary with liber daemonica. Or a Librarian for a better psychic phase and 2/3 chance to get sanctuary but much lower combat skills. What do you think between the two? Also i'm a little bit concerned about my ordo xenos inquisitor survivability, he is only T3 with a 3+ save just to have the plasma syphon , psycho grenades, and a little better warlord trait table. Do you think it worth the risk or should i take a ordo malleus inquisitor with terminator armor but no particular advantage or synergy with other units? LIST: HQ warlord: Ordo xenos Inquisitor (aiming for reader of tarot or burner of world warlord trait, but really all are good) power armor , 3 servo skull (to help deep strike, support plasma team scatter), Ulumeathi syphon (will give a relative protection to the terminators against all plasma based burst, psyker 1 with telepathy, Power sword and combi melta, Liber heresius. HQ librarian or Grand master with hammer, teleport homer, liber daemonica, combi melta for librarian or psycannon for grand master Henchmen Assassin unit: 5 assassin, 2 crusader, 1 psyker for extra dice and psychic shrike, 1 priest with multi melta in a Chimera (with the librarian and inquisitor this unit can slice any medium to low protected unit (also 2+ save by saturation) and have 3 combi melta to melt a vehicle). 2X 5 terminator with psycannon and 1 hammer in each, the other terminators with nemesis falchion for an extra attack) Dreadknight with teleporter, great sword, heavy psycannon, heavy incinerator, (i use deep strike first turn to keep the jump capacity to catch another unit later in game or catch an objective) Support Henchmen unit with Coteaz (to increase a little my chance of starting first and also give the mandatory inquisitor for the servitors with 2 psy dice bonus) 1 psyker for extra dice Jakaero 2 acolyte in front to make cannon meat 3 heavy plasma servitor 2 crusaders to absorb some shots Please give me your opinions/ ideas about this list. Reclusiarch Darius
Well first of all, I'd invest in a Comms Array. If you're wanting to land Terminators Turn 1, you need that. Nothing would be worse than you failing your Reserve rolls and leaving your Inquisition elements at the mercy of enemy guns. Secondly, Inquisition are the wrong choice if you want Deepstrike help. For 110 the Scout+Storm combo gets you an Infiltrating and Scouting unit, plus the Cerberus launcher on the Storm can suppress enemy units by causing Blind checks (great for shutting down Tau battlesuits, Lootaz etc, even Marines can fail the test). Inquisition work best at either bringing cheap gunboats or Flyers, or for cheap special weapons. Gun servitors just don't do enough and are too easily killed in 7th. Chimeras and Razors suffer from being HP stripped by all the S6/7 spam which enemy armies like to have. Melta or plasma Acolytes in Valkyries is probably the best Inquisition does. The other main thing they do well is bring cheap Terminator Inquisitors who provide a Mastery 1 Divination psyker, 3 wounds, a hammer and a psycannon on a TDA platform. For the same price as our Librarian that's pretty good value. Servo-skulls is the other major thing he brings, 3pts each for some safe Deepstrike areas is very cheap. angrom
Thanks for the reply, Indeed the randomness of the reserves rolls are a problem i want to avoid You recommend the Comm Relay (from stronghold supplement?) I have a question about them i have read that it is 20 pts to get one but how does it work? Do i have to purchase and use another fortification to have it? or can i buy it and use it on its own for 20 pts? which one do you recommend? Yes all vanilla Fortifications are in the Stronghold book. Don't worry, they're all perfectly legit for normal 40k games. They just are no longer in the main rulebook. Yes you will need to purchase a Fortification, then upgrade to a Comms Array. The two cheapest options are the Aegis Line (grants 4+ cover, can't be destroyed) or Imperial Bunker (AV14, 5HP, four firepoints, but can be destroyed). I'd recommend Aegis Line. It's slightly cheaper, and it can't be blown up. angrom
As we don't have many (lets say no counter against flyers) do you recommend to take a quad gun with the aegis defense line? or do you think it is a waste of points? Well we have the Raven, and don't forget Allies. You can only take one upgrade on an Aegis Line/Bunker, so it's either Comms Array or Quad Gun. Comms Array makes the Nemesis Strikeforce work, Quad Gun is okay at shooting down Flyers. It's up to you. If you take double NSF, you have two Fortification slots, so take both if you wish.
