Organized Sisters Purchase

I'm not going to take credit for the idea, so I'm just going to post what was originally posted on Dakka for anyone who is interested in the idea:

So, i recall a similar pledge a few years back, but never got news as to outcomes.

The idea here is to get most players who collect Adepta Sororitas armies to purchase a single model in order to show our support for GW, and entice them to update their Battle Sisters range.

The plan is very simple, and will simply work on the spread in Social media and gaming groups.

On the 4th of March 2015, i would kindly ask that you purchase THIS MODEL.

You may select an alternative, such as THIS or THIS.

The most important thing is to try and do this as close as you can to a selected time:

8am PST

10am CST

11am EST  for the US

4pm GMT in the UK

5pm CET for most of Europe

Or the equivalent time in your time zone.

If you own an Adepta Sororitas army, that model will surely find a home and be useful. Even fully equipped collectors of AS could make use of this 1 model, and would show support for the cause. I know you might be happy with the amount of models you have, but this is a message that you want more attention given to your Faction.

The next step is simply to spread this message as far and wide as you can, and make the purchase on the stated date.

As a bonus, you may also send the following email, or an amended version of your own, to the following address: custserv@gwplc.com or uk.custserv@gwplc.com in conjunction with your order.

Dear Madam/Sir,

I am contacting you in regards to my recent order of an Adepta Sororitas model.

First of all, I do apologise for the high amount of administration work this has probably caused. Secondly, I do not expect a delivery of the model if the stocks have been emptied as a result, but would greatly appreciate a refund if this is the case and if it is within your means.

Lastly I would explain the reason for this purchase: I am an earnest collector of Adepta Sororitas models, and have been waiting for an update to this Faction for some time now. This purchase shows my interest in this range of models, and shows that an Update, or simply more attention to this Faction would bring me great joy.

Kind Regards,

A Sisters of Battle players.

I do really want to emphasise on the fact that this petition will probably create some chaos for GW, but hopefully the spread of the campaign will provide them with warning, as i do not this to be a 'surprise', rather a evaluation of how many would support this cause.

Please spread the word, including translations and adaptations where necessary.

Well its a nice idea, but if we assume that rumours are true and we are indeed in the pipeline, then what's it's purpose. Now I know we have no way of knowing if the rumours are true, so if we assume they aren't then it has a point. I'm just in two minds over it. Plus we would have no way of gauging participation numbers in addition we also don't know if GW would actually notice.

Any particular reason why a wednesday?

I can answer that :p

Quite a few of the 1-man stores in the UK have closed days during the week, so Wednesday seemed the most "accessible".

Also it was to give GW a bit of time to deal with the large influx this will cause, so 2 Working days was being considerate if it involves employees who are not usually around at the weekend...

Agreed. But take it less as a "will it work?" and more as a "at least i'll do my part". I know i personally will have use for a Sister with a meltagun, regardless of outcomes... (Including making use of it if there is any plastic to come)

Oh don't get my wrong I was going to do it since like the original post says, you can always use 1 more model.

A couple of years ago there was a similar initiative to mass purchase the old Sister of Battle objective marker thing from the miscellaneous bits section. My prediction then was that it would go out of stock, eventually get refilled, and life would go on at GW as if nothing had happened.

Checking the website just now I couldn't find the thing we were all supposed to buy, so they must not have even refilled the stock after the handful of activist purchasers bought the last few.

I'm pretty sure this happening will get as far as the others have. GW will do it when they want to and not a day sooner.

May get myself another exorcist...

If nothing else its an excuse to buy more models. biggrin.png

Just make sure you get that email in too. Yes the model buy is important, but tying it to the email to tell customer service WHY that purchase exists (and asking them to pass it on for you) matters too.

Imagine this will have the opposite effect.

If someone produces something that noone buys anymore, they tend to revamp and re-produce it in order to sell it again. If it still sells, why bother? Its obviously still good.

You'd make a far stronger (and useful statement) by not buying any Battle Sisters.

Maybe next time, Magic. We could set up a fund raiser tee shirt sale on Custom Ink or a site like that. Just a simple flur with something like

I had money to spend on new Battle Sister models

so I bought a tee shirt instead.

Set up all the funds to go to Autism Speaks. (My idea, my choice of charity ;))

Did you post this on MWG and Beast of war site as well?

No, but I did put it up on Warseer, Heresy and BoLS.

EDIT:

That's the point of the email: you make it clear that the only reason you bought it was as part of a collective effort to show that there is a market for the army and you'd spend money on them if they were cheaper and in plastic.

If it was just the model alone I'd understand your point, but your ignoring the fact you plainly state your intentions to them as well.

Well it's been shut down on Warseer, their mods proving themselves hobby hating tossers yet again. :-P

And they should be welcoming of other comunities and forums, not just warseer, its the main reason they have more viewers but less contributors.

Once they have new models I am starting a second Sisters army in white.

That is my coping mechanism for the amount of metal models I have. lol

There's a group of people who say that if there's a plastic Exorcist, it won't be an organ, because the organ is too complicated a shape or something.

This is the first I've heard of that, but it sounds like speculation. I meant the Organ is made of several simple pieces that I don't see a reason, especially with modern plastic tech, why it can't be done. And if they tubes are set up as three sets of two part pieces they'd even be properly hollow.

Frankly anyone who says it's too complicated is really underestimating what you can actually do with a plastic kit.

I agree with Fulkes assessment there.

If you look at newer kits the trend has been toward more detail in general with distinctive styling for each faction specifically. I could see them doing something different than the organ for various reasons, but not because it's too complicated an idea, especially since it just needs to be an add-on to a rhino chassis.
