Saw this over on battle bunnies, it's an anthology that should be out for the upcoming weekender.

Super special awesome cover of Mortarion...though I will add biased opinion that the Death Gaurd have been receiving way more attention and than any other legion out there :/

I speculate that the story with Morty on the cover will be him heading to the galactic east to fight the Dark Angels under Corswain's command as he said he would in Vengeful Spirit.

Awesome spread of authors include: Chris Wraight (White Scars...squeee!), John French, and Guy Haley. I'd include Graham McNeill in the list but he's on and off lately.

Oh, and who let Nick Kyme write another story?

I would argue the Death Guard are one of the least developed legions fluff-wise (in the novel series anyway), although Chris Wraight has been putting some work in on Mortarion himself. I won't be anywhere near this weekender but am really hopeful there's a good DG story by Wraight in there.... I'll have to get my hands on it somehow if there is :)

Also that artwork. MMMMM yes

I'm going to be honest with myself, going to buy this book for the sweet cover. Anything inside it being good is just a bonus.

"Don't judge a book by it's cover"

It's a shame that this is the mentality which Black Library are capitalising on to churn out the continual dross like Vengeful Spirit and Damnation of Pythos.

Ah, but as a fan of the Death Guard, a cover is about all we get.

tbh, i'm a bit sad that this isn't 1:1 the FW Mortarion (different face, breastplate) ... but the deathshroud are awesome :p

Apparently lost his scythe handle doohicks as well.

I'm completely empathetic that alot of filler is required to give the 18 legions and special characters of the heresy the depth they require and deserve... but I'm really craving a full book that catapults the storyline forward so that the filler chases in the gaps, rather then the filler progressing the storyline.

I dig the cover but Mortarion is kind of reminding me of Flavor Flav just instead of a giant clock, its a skull..

His war cry is, "YEEEEAH BOOOIII!!!"

I'd rather swallow a rad grenade than see that.
