Deredeo Pattern dreadnought-FW release 23-1-15

Recommended Posts

Now I've seen one painted I kind of like it.

Though I already have a Mortis pattern dual-ac 'temptor

I guess the 'anvilus battery' will get special rules compared to a regular 'temptor ac though.

The urge to use that free shipping voucher intensifies, but I will wait for moar weapon options. Ideally I'd like something more...Salamandery. Like a Volkite Culverin battery or something burny.Their wording certainly suggests we will get other options, like the normal temptors.

Also has everybody noticed the lovely little Ultramarine officer for scale?

One of the primary weapon systems

You can put heavy flamers on ittongue.png . Though I do agree it would be nice if it came with more weapons options, like plasma or vulkites.

This...this is true. Nothing says Salamanders more than heavy flamers for nipples.

Also in the blurb for the autocannons:

"One of the primary weapon systems the Deredeo can mount is the twin-linked Anvilus autocannon battery"

More weapons in the future I think :) Time to get the magnets out, and the painful decision of having this guy for my Ultramarines or Iron Warriors...

Out on sale for the 30th - means I can pick one up at the Weekender biggrin.png

MIght give FW a ring next week and reserve one, this might sell quite quickly. Good to see that the weapon options are seperate, we might be seeing different versions coming out over the next couple of months.

My only concern is a practical one - storage and transporting. The Autocannon / "Anvilus Autocannon Battery" looks fairly static, with the attached ammo feeds being hitched to the back of the body, This is going to need to some Tank Foam to get it into a case...

and £65 for body, two weapon arms, and the attached missile system, or £53 if you don't want the missiles, that's not a bad price point when comparred to the regular contemptor. Deredero missile system is a couple of pounds more expensive than the standard COntemptor Cyclone Launcher (and give the size you should expect it), but the body and weapon arms are directly comparable.

Nicely played ForgeWorld, nicely played.

The deredeo is a big model, on a 80mm base and about the same size as a contemptor, taller with the missile. So it's not surprising that it costs more than the regular contemptor.

Also, where do people think it's rules will be?

EDIT: Now that I've looked at the model I realise its the same size as the contemptor, and I also think it's pretty reasonably priced.

That was something I wasn't expecting either - 80mm base? Here was me thinking it might fit onto a regular sized base, need to start seeing if the guy who does my resin bases goes up that far.

Pretty brutal comparison picture on the main site:

Yay.
If only I had the money to spare right now.

Various thoughs on it:

  • Price is great. £3 more than the standard Contemptor, Autocannons cost the same as two Contemptor arms, missiles cost £3 more than the Contemptor cyclone launcher.
  • I look forward to seeing what other weapons will be made for it. Maybe Plasma and Volkite weapons?
  • 80mm base leaves a lot of room to work with, and won't seem too small. It is the same height as a Contemptor, but it does take up more space.
  • Comes with both Heavy Flamers and Heavy Bolters for the carapace weapons. Nice to have some choice.
  • The listing for the Aiolos Launcher says it's an upgrade kit, so I think it will be optional rules-wise.
  • It's nice to see an example model painted up in XIII colours.
  • I'm curous to see if any Legion-specific versions will be made.
  • I want three. Or more.

Also in the blurb for the autocannons:

"One of the primary weapon systems the Deredeo can mount is the twin-linked Anvilus autocannon battery"

More weapons in the future I think smile.png Time to get the magnets out, and the painful decision of having this guy for my Ultramarines or Iron Warriors...

Ultramarines for the win! Glory to the XIII! Blood for the blood god! Oh wait wrong Subforum...biggrin.png

Salamanders Legion Deredo:

Twin-linked Nocturnean Volkite Culverin Array

Multi-melta Nipples

Carapace mounted Flamestorm/Magnamelta cannon

nggggh I want one ^_^

BattleTech anyone? I'm a fan of it I have to say.

Nothing warms the cold wasteland of my heart like oversized cannons mounted on walker chassis. Be very interested to see them come out with alternatives however. Especially some Volkite and Lascannon varieties

@fire golem:  Thanks for the link to the experimental rules.

I realize that there's a general rule in 30K that all FW models are fair game but it's interesting that this is actually not a Heresy unit:

A Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought is a Heavy Support choice in a Codex: Space Marines detachment.

It most likely will be by the time book V rolls around. Cheers, -OMG
