Merellin
So, I had this idea, Of using the Space Wolves supplement for a Dreadnought focused army, Bjorn as a HQ and a bunch of dreadnoughts in the 8 elite slots you get, But what more could fit with a dreadnought focused army? Mayhaps a couple of iron priests to repair the dreads? Some Blood Claws as cheep cannon fodder? Brother Dallo
If you want more dreadnoughts, consider allying in Cassor the Damned from Shield of Baal: Deathstorm (A troops choice death company dreadnought) and a librarian dreadnought HQ. Vykryl
Seem a batrep of a list like this, that guy backed it with a Spartan. Maybe a pair of full Las Predators for extra long range punch? Or Whirlwinds for hordes if you don't have flamers on the dccw arm? Merellin
Hmm... Whirlwinds are good.. For the dreadnoughts I was planning Bjorn as my HQ, Then Murderfang, 3-4 Axe and Shield Venerable Dreadnoughts, And maybe 2 Rifleman Dreadnoughts, A couple of units of meatshield blood claws, Maybe a Vindicator and a Predator.. Whirlwind is good too! ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302516-a-dreadnought-focused-army-what-more-to-add/#findComment-3930487 Share on other sites
Yoyo ninja
Are you going to take any drop pods? Getting the Murderfang and those axe dreads stuck in ASAP is always a good plan. Merellin
Dunnos about drop pods.. I'd have to get someone of my friends to build them for me.. XD Plus you only get half on turn one.. Wulfgar Ironmane
And that half will be sweet.Drop in 3-4 dreads on turn 1 and you will kick serious face. And well.. Dreads basically need pods to get anywhere in life... Vykryl
If your looking at 7 Dreads with 2 ranged support and 5 to podding in, let's see. If you take 7 pods you can drop 4 on Turn 1. If Bjorn is ran as ranged support with the 2 AuCan Dreads you can have all 7 on board turn 1. Take the death wind launcher for the pods and you can drop 4 templets on infantry turn 1 from the first pod wave, may not need Whirlwinds. This should take you to what I was looking at the other day http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.com/search/label/army%20lists?m=1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302516-a-dreadnought-focused-army-what-more-to-add/#findComment-3930551 Share on other sites

Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I also immediately thought of the Blood Angels ability to harness Librarians in the form of a Dreadnought. Could be a great ally. Plus, Furioso's are still pretty good. Merellin
So, I just made a compleately non competetive for fun test list and posted it here http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302573-2000-point-dreadnought-list-for-fun/ What do you all think? Vykryl
I don't want to clutter your army thread idea so will clutter this one instead This is a 1500 point Dreadnaught army I was tinkering with. May be fun and easier to build than a standard army, painting 7 Dreads and pods versus dozens of power armour. HQ Bjorn 270 Hellfrost Cannon Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher Elites AutoCannon Dread 150 Extra Armour Venerable AutoCannon Dread 150 Extra Armour Venerable Melta Dread 165 Extra Armor Heavy flamer Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher Melta Dread 165 Extra Armor Heavy flamer Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher Melta Dread 165 Extra Armor Heavy flamer Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher Murderfang 185 Drop Pod Deathwind Launcher Heavy Support Predator 125 Extra Armour Lascannon Sponsons Predator 125 Extra Armour Lascannon Sponsons Thinking with 5 pods I could droup 2 Melta Dreads and Murderfang on turn 1 wherever they look like they could do the most mayhem. Have the Predators and AutoCannon Dreads provide ranged support. One or both of Bjorn and the last Melta Dread could pod in when ever the dice permit where ever needed. The other or both could run around mid field trying to catch anything running away from Murderfang and cohorts. Stuck Deathwinds on all the pods thinking that might help against infantry. Everbody got extra armor to reduce risk of being frozen in place. Not sure how it would work. Could drop the Extra Armour and Deathwinds and maybe squeze in another Dreadnought. Would try it if I had the Dreads and Pods. Edit: You can add to Blizz Dreads in pods and drop 2 Deathwind Launchers to make it 1850. 2 Stormwolves with multimeltas would take you to 1970 leaving 30 to play with.
