Gman
So how are these units as a fast unit to go tie something up? I'm looking at something to expand my list and it could use something that can get across the table fast. For the points and for that purpose is a unit of 10 wolves a good option? I also just like the idea of some actual wolf models running around the battle. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I have 45 of them I rarely use any more. The fact that the Thunderwolf Cavalry got a serious price reduction makes the little wolves very undesirable now. That and empty Drop Pods filling the fast slot make them very undesirable indeed. As for ascetics and if you are playing unbound run them anyways!! It certainly looks great having Fenrisian wolves loping around the big wolves!! wulfgar hammerfist
I use 10 of them as an escort for my Wolf Lord. Ablative wounds. They do rather well in that capacity. Lord Blackwood
wouldnt they just get cut down by the hurricane bolter fire ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302543-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-3931007 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
wouldnt they just get cut down by the hurricane bolter fire ? Indeed :P The issue with Fenrisian Wolves isn't that they are bad. They are great. The issue is that the FA slot is very crowded and thus you nees to take your essentials first. Empty pods and TWC usually come first. Just for reference as I'm still learning are empty pods there for locator beacon for any deep striking units? Sorry for the noob question. And back on topic I take a fair few wolves with my wolf lord and wolf guard unit of 5, simply for wound allocation and the extra attacks. Used them against a massive unit of guard and ripped them apart :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302543-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-3931072 Share on other sites
benane
You take empty pods to get an odd number of pods, so you can round up half of it to deploy turn 1. also they can be used for allies like grav-cents etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302543-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-3931078 Share on other sites

Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
wouldnt they just get cut down by the hurricane bolter fire ? Not with that sweet, sweet 6+ armor save they won't!! I think I'll also add 2 to each of my three Lone Wolves in TDA and deep strike them in... -.- Leave the drop pods for the big boys. It's a waste (albeit hilarious) to pod them in. Gman
So not sure in all these posts answered my question lol. I have nothing in my fans lots and eventually only plan to get a single TWC. But for the points are the wolves good or not worth it? Are the cav a much better option? Amarog
I think for the points they are pretty good, even if they do nothing more than run head long up the field taking fire and causing a distraction. If they finally get into cc great, if not ... No big loss they may have allowed your guys to get up close and dirty and relatively unscathed. Lord Blackwood
For the record I dont mind deep striking fenrisan wolves though I dont know if that should be the case in a friendly game I wouldnt fuss. I only own two fenrisan wolves , I was thinking I would need some more but maybe its best I not expand , I really dont see them being so good for the points. Yea you get a lot of bodies , but that fast attack slot .... thats where the bread and butter of my lists are constructed @ n @ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302543-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-3931374 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Purchased Fenrisian Wolves become part of the unit. Deep strike rule states that you can deep strike if the entire unit consist of models that can deep strike. Don't see why this is unclear. Rune Priest Ridcully
I'd have assumed the wolves cling onto the marine in terminator armour like scooby doo on shaggy :PIt's the slot that hurts them, between Land speeder, Thunderwolf and skyclaw packs fast attack is used quickly. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Val, I was being sarcastic, as Immy suggested. Gman, the Fenrisian wolves are good in game, but the other FA slots are just better. The models are beautiful and a blast to paint!! Bladewolf, prepare yourself for the fastest line of Fenrisian wolves this side of Texas!!
