Athrawes
Hey everyone. This is the list I'm planning on using in an upcoming game with Depthcharge12. For our games both of us have been play testing our Legion Traits. Since there will never be a forgeworld IInd Legion and the Depthcharge12s Dark angels haven't gotten rules yet either. +HQ+ Legion Praetor (180) [Plasma Pistol, Iron Halo, Digital Weapons, Paragon Blade] Command Squad (212) [4 chosen, 1 Standard Bearer, 2 Power Swords, 2 power Axes, Combat Shields] +Elites+ Apothecarion Detachment (165) [3 Apothecaries (Tactical squads and Heavy Support Squad), Artificer Armor] +Troops+ Legion Tactical Squad 1 (220) [15 legionaries, Artificer armor (sgt), Vexilla.] Legion Tactical Squad 2 (220) [15 Legionaries, Artificer Armor(Sgt), Vexilla] +Fast Attack+ Javelin Attack Speeder (75) [Stock] Javelin Attack Speeder (85) [Twin-linked Lascannon] +Heavy+ Heavy Support Squad (345) [10 Legionaries, 10 Culverins, Artificer Armor (Sgt)] Derededo Dreadnaught (220) [Aiolos Launcher] Derededo Dreadnaught (220) [Aiolos Launcher] +Lord of War+ Legion Fellblade (525) Total: 2470 points ----- The General Strategy is to use one tactical squad and the Heavy support Squad to hold down a home field object and create a fire base. There isn't much that can survive 40 Culverin hits, with the occasional fury of the Legion as a screen. The apothecaries are attached here to keep both units in the fight and the artificer armor on them and the sergeants will try to soak up as much ap3 as possible. Depending on the mission, the Praetor and Command squad will probably hang back with Tac/Heavy firebase to give them fearless and act as a counter charge unit to help them survive against dedicated assault units, like Depths Terminator/praetor combo. The second tactical squad will be my mobile objective grabber with enough bodies and the apothecary/vexilla to keep them alive and moving. In my experience, the threat offered by the Culverin heavy squad should draw a lot of the fire away from my mobile tactical squad. The (NEW) Pair of Deredeo Dreadnaughts will be tasked with light vehicle and dreadnaught hunting. Basically they will be trying to offer support to my mobile tactical squad by bracketing and eliminating possible threats. The Aiolos missiles will simultaneously be trying to pin my opponents own infantry in place and prolong how long they have to withstand ranged weapons. The Fellblade will be my mobile firebase. It and the Deredeos will be trying to draw fire away from my Tac/Heavy firebase while moving up the field and splitting my opponents fire. While they do this, my hope is that they will have enough raw firepower to bracket and eliminate threats to my firebase. The Javelins will be held in reserve. The Idea is that they will outflank and are primarily intended a harassment unit, going after targets of opportunity like Rapiers or rear armor. helterskelter
I'd be inclined to swap one deredeo for a couple of predators, bit of more mobile firepower/distraction. Not that id ever be fully against 2 of them, its the fact in tabletop terms your army is quite slow bar the javelins Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302547-lightning-bearers-2500-point-list/#findComment-3931123 Share on other sites
amazarak
I would consider adding a pair of HK missiles to the javelins as well. They are half price for the javelins, a paltry 5 points each, and help a great deal with the first strike against side/rear armor that you are going for with the units. Athrawes
One option I have been playing with is to drop Tactical squad 2 and and the 2 tactical squad Apothecaries, and replace them with a 15 man assault squad with 4 power weapons (1 on Sgt). Then I'd run my praetor with a jetpack, deploy with them and use the unit in the same way as tactical squad 2 in the previous strategy. The command squad doesn't really need the praetor to remain killy in assaults as they are all ws5, they would remain behind with the Tac/Heavy firebase to defend them while giving them fearless.
