Apocalypse formations in non-apocalypse games?

Apologies if this has been asked/answered before, looked a fair bit back but couldn't find anything related.

Can formations from the apocalypse books be taken in standard wh40k games, escalation games or only apocalypse games? 7e BRB has adopted many of the rules from apocalypse (unbound armies, super heavies, normal formations/dataslates etc), but can't seem to find a clear consensus on this one.

Opinions? Thoughts? Answers?

Thanks!

Note page 58 of the Apocalypse rulebook:

"Datasheets - Apocalypse gives you the chance to field Apocalypse Formations."

So the Formations in the Apocalypse rulebook are "Apocalypse Formations", not regular (40k) Formations.  Permission is granted in the Apocalypse rulebook for them to be used in games of Apocalypse, however there is no permission for the use of Apocalypse Formations in regular games of 40k, either in the Apocalypse rulebook or the 40k rulebook.

Of course, if your opponent agrees to the use of a certain Apocalypse Formation in a game of regular 40k, then that would be OK (an agreement between both players to, what is effectively, a house rule).  But if there is no agreement / house rule, then their use is excluded due to 40k being a permissive rule-set, and there's no written text permitting their use in normal games of 40k.

Just to add, whilst Apocalypse formations are Apocalypse only, superheavies are fine to fulfill your Lord of War choice despite being considered a formation.

i.e. A Warhound is fine outside of Apocalypse, a Lucifer Task Force is not.

Super-Heavies and Lords of War are not Formations. The first is a Unit Type, the second a Role.

True, some Formations were one unit in size, but that's a different story.

Any unit/formation listed in the Apocalypse book is an Apocalypse formation. What I was pointing out was that a single unit (which primarily are superheavies of some sort- e.g., Warhound/Thunderhawk/Phantom) can be used in game of 40k.

Of which they were listed in Escalation, a codex, or a FAQ as a Lord of War. This is not a case of taking an Apoc Formation, but a Lord of War at this point.
