Eloqui Ex Angelus - True Scale Deathwatch Kill Team

Recommended Posts

So, having returned from the 40k Friendly at Cancon, I thought I would reveal my latest project to the rest of the world (or atleast the part that reads these threads)

Please excuse the quality of photos, I am out of practice, and it's tricky to photograph blacks/dark greys without washing out other colours/metallics.
(also, as I intend to expand this force in the future, and may include WIP shots, I've placed this in the diaries section rather than the finished projects one)

The following information has been provided to us in part by Watchcaptain Balfleur (though I have added my own summaries and commentary) pertaining to the current disposition of the Deathwatch Killteam I-384 Designated "Eloqui Ex Angelus".

Brother Specialist Paulus provides close support for Killteam I-384 as well as overseeing any cleansings of evidence or dangerous xenos residual phenomenon. To this end, he is typically armed with an Callisto pattern flamethrower, sanctified to the highest standards. It has been noted that he has also taken to carrying a contingent of Meltabombs to facilitate in any rendering which require higher temperatures.

Brother Specialist Nemaal, Seconded from the Dark Angels.

Brother Marksman Cynis represents the other half of the marksman contingent of Killteam I-384, armed with a Pilum pattern Sniper Rifle. Of note, In order to suppliment his reconnisance and interdiction duties, Brother Cynis has taken to wearing the Mark IIXc "Excursor" Pattern armour, most frequently worn by assault and scouting specialists, which in order to increase flexibility, forgoes the reinforced torso plate of the Mark IIXb "Messor" Pattern more commonly worn by most members of Killteam I-384.

Battle Brother Oranis, Seconded from the Lords Of Wrath.

Battle Brother Ashmon, Seconded from the Salamanders.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010387_zps288f8929.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010388_zps2c8d38d6.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010389_zpsa457c724.jpg
Very little is known about Battle Brother Ashmon. While affable and engaging in downtime, and a fierce fighter in combat, he has proven reluctant to discuss his personal history or the circumstances of his arrival in the deathwatch.

Battle Brother Phyrus, Seconded from the Red Seraphs.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010383_zps5444cc94.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010384_zps01429acc.jpg
Battle Brother Phyrus is actually the oldest serving member of Killteam I-384, Having served since the inception of the nemesis crusade front. All other members have either been killed in action, returned to their chapters, or in a few cases been promoted into positions with other Kill Teams. For whatever reason, Brother Phyrus appears content to remain within this team, and has turned down any offers of promotion or reassignment.

Battle Brother Korst, Seconded from the Black Templars.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010393_zpsf6de2ef1.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010394_zps3034495a.jpg
Battle Brother Korst is a terse and frankly somewhat unlikable marine, though he is of course an excellent soldier and his battlefield conduct is unimpeachable. None the less, he has challenged several members to duels of honour and has been noted to be under closer scrutiny than any other currently serving member of Killteam I-384

Battle Brother Mathias, Seconded from the Guardians Of The Covenant.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010385_zps03179f29.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/jaggedtoothgrin/EloquiExAngelus/P1010386_zps5c0d922d.jpg
Battle Brother Mathias has taken it upon himself to act as the spiritual leader of Killteam I-384, a fact that has caused some friction with Brother Korst, though not enough to cause any fault in their battlefield performance.

Killteam I-384 Will no doubt be engaging in spot tests and training exercises amidst the persecution of their duties. Please provide any assistance they request in this matter, or in order to aid their overall part in the crusade.

Also included, are the cherubim who act as objective counters and displayboard filler.

Also, since it's been pointed out to me that there's no "scale shot" with a regular marine, here's Brother Ashmon with his traditional counterpart

Excellent stuff. As someone working on true-scale Deathwatch of my own, I was really pleased to see these figures. You've taken a really similar approach to me in many ways. You appear to have just put the helmets straight onto the neck-joint, right? It makes them look like they have really long necks. What've you done with the rear of the torsos.

Which right arms have you used for your figures? I don't recognise the shoulder joint. Is it more Forgeworld?

Love your cherubim, excellent stuff.

Do you intend to add more to the force?

hey

Yeah, I do intend to add more to the project, Currently, I'm hoping to make a full selection of characters, a second killteam, a combat squad of assault marines, and some more specialist choices. I am also intending to end up with a set compatible with space hulk terminator loadouts, so they can go xenoshunting there too. I'll whip up a quick tutorial when I do my next batch but to answer the questions:

The necks have been shaved down so that there is a single piece of ribbing left, as I wanted them to be distinct from the torso armour (it also lets me use the beakie and maximus helmets that would otherwise get in the way) it doesnt look as long in person as it does in those pictures. the angle combined with the fact that the gorget bulges outwards makes the gap seem bigger than it is.

I expect I'll try for a proper errant armour gorget on a few suits in the future though.

the back half of the torso is from the power armour kit, though I have greenstuffed it smooth down to the belt to make it a single solid piece

The arms are plastic terminator arms from either the marine, wolfguard, or deathwing sprues. the elbow guard, like the shield and shoulder pads, were made by mastercrafted.co.uk and I believe that the blank pads and shields/elbow joints will be available to the public soon.

any fancy iconography is most likely pressmolded greenstuff (made using the excellent blu-stuff.com blue stuff)

the larger greave iconography comes from various dreadnought sarcophagii though i have a quite extensive collection of molds at this point

i have some unpainted shots that i'll upload later, nothing much WIP through the build itself though
