Frostmourne
Hi, this may be in the wrong place, so feel free to move me aroundA friend is thinking of mirroring my Fists Legion with his own Night Lords, as he thinks he can scare me.. :PBut, the upgrade kits to NL are heroically expensive, and you still have to get legs and arms and what have you. Does anyone else use anything different, or just buy more Raptors? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302755-terror-squads/ Share on other sites
Slips
While yes, Terror Squads are indeed pricey, Templars and Phalanx Warders aren't too far off either... I'd say, sadly, yeah, buying more raptors, back backs and volkite chargers would be the most cost-effective way of getting terror squads. Though their leaping/landing poses might be wonky.. Marshal Loss
You really don't need to buy the Terror squad upgrade kits in my opinion, just buy skulls/body part bits and pimp out your own squad. I am usually a fan of the upgrade sets but the Terror squad one is extremely underwhelming Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302755-terror-squads/#findComment-3935102 Share on other sites

I'm going this route, have a load of old chaos minis I'll rob the back packs off, suitable amount of cork board base word, some with require hair dryer repose/having the feet removed/resculpted. It'll be good with a bit of time and patience. And green stuff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302755-terror-squads/#findComment-3935103 Share on other sites

Not sure how yet. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302755-terror-squads/#findComment-3935105 Share on other sites
Slips
Bonus points is that they come with Nostroman Chainglaives - the only way to get them, iirc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302755-terror-squads/#findComment-3935107 Share on other sites
helterskelter
Unless we buy loads of sevatars. Anvil industries do a chain glaive, but only right handed. Crafting them with grey knight glaives and chainswords is another option Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302755-terror-squads/#findComment-3935109 Share on other sites
Galron
I like the Anvil industries bitz. They do a good job. I think that's where I got my volkite chargers before FW released them and the cyclone missile launchers for my Tyrant Siege termies. I found a bunch of destroyer bodies and ordered backpacks and heads off ebay and a couple packs of shoulder pads from FW. I picked up bits from the chaos raptor set for arms and weapons. It all came together pretty well although after the performance of the charger terror squad, I am tempted to convert one of the other melee terror squads into a charger squad. DuskRaider
I'd echo making your own. Perhaps picking up the helms, but honestly you can make your own terror marks with paint. Dark Eldar have great bits that lend well to the Night Lords theme, my favorite being a hand hanging from a hook. FW really missed with the "Terror Squad" upgrades, with what looks like pieces of bark tacked to the armor. Fire Golem
Not seeing the bark... Butnthey don't scream terror squad to me either. More generic Night Lords. DuskRaider
The "flesh strips" look like anything but flesh. They look like tree bark nailed to them... I understand what they were trying to convey, but I feel when you're pumping out high quality models and parts either you get it right or you don't try. To me, it's a failed attempt. Or Post-It Notes. They also look like Post-It Notes. Why are they so clean? Fire Golem
Haha post it notes I can see. Fairly easy to bloody them up or whatever with paint, but I get your point. DuskRaider
Yeah, they're these perfect squares or rectangles just kinda nailed to them... I'd figure they'd be long and ragged if they're going to nondescript flesh, or otherwise do face skin, as it's easily recognizable and not stationary material-like at all.
