Grey Knight Supplement

I'm so annoyed how they removed mordrak and thawn...almost all my lists included both!

But rule wise, I can't imagine anything that would work.

Maybe stealth or shrouded? But then you'll get people claiming that's too good...

So maybe stealth or shrouded on turn 1? To represent them solidifying?

As for actual units, I haven't a clue! Other than terminators :-P

Maybe the implications of a grey knights necromancer is just too.... Chaos to really work?

I like the fluff behind it TBH. Grey Knights prefer to rest at the Emperor's side and seldom use Dreadnoughts for this reason. Grey Knights who refused to leave their captain and have yet to be with the Emperor is sacrificing something else, their eternal peace, just at the chance to help their chapter and brother-captain.

You're right RD, they are squads, not numbers in a squad, but the "roughly" still doesn't mean unlimited numbers in a brotherhood.

No of course not. You'd expect if anything a Brotherhood to be under 100 strong normally, due to battle casualties and the Chapter's extremely narrow criteria for new initiates.

Regarding the Vengeance of Mortain supplement, how many Grey Knights were with Mordrak at the time? A whole supplement would imply they are very numerous as opposed to the single squad we could field last codex.

His whole Brotherhood died, he was the only survivor. Huron was pretty thorough.

I think a Mordrak formation would be pretty easy. Just bring him back with the same rules ie every time he loses a wound, a new Terminator is spawned. But, if he's one-shotted, they all disappear with him.

I don't know why Thawn was ret-conned. They even bothered to make a BL short about him, read 'Ghost Halls'. He was easily the least playable of our SC's anyway, just a hard to kill Termie sarge, nothing game-breaking.

But, if he's one-shotted, they all disappear with him.

The free ones, for sure.  That was a epic fun rule.

Any purchased squads of Ghost Knights, no way.  Dumbest thing GW stuck in our old Codex.

Buy 400 points of Terminators.  Mordrak gets one shot.  Lose 400 points of Terminators.

Nope.

My supplement would be named "T5 paladins and fixed psycannons" or possibly "Personal Teleporters for Paladins and NDK weapons for dreadnoughts".

Not very catchy, but it gets the job done..

If I'm being serious though, I wouldn't mind a super-formation akin to the one necrons just got in a  supplement.

Narrative forged ;)

Buffs and useful formations are for xenos, silly. We get the Dreadknight Brethren formation (free Shred...is nice, and you lose it when the leader dies) and the Nemesis Strikeforce.

I'd like to see a formation that would bring back psybolt ammo. something like a full 10 man strike squad and a dreadnought. would give a reason to actually include 2 pretty redundant units.

shunting terminators would also be very sexy, or a rule to bring back the +1 to Invun swords.

and while im dreaming, would anyone else like to see a named Dreadknight HQ with some kind of formation?

Librarian Dread.

Should have been a given, really.

Why? That's ridiculous because... oh wait... yep... (listens to ear-mike) ok, yeah all Grey Knights psykers just like Blood angels... (more ear-mike) what? (more ear-mike) oh ok, like some Blood Angels...
