Army painter brushes

Recommended Posts

If I could get some Kolinsky sable brushes with handles like the ones from Army Painter, I would buy a lifetime supply.

Only downside is that it's Rosemary instead of W&N, Raphael, or da Vinci. But Rosemary is certainly not a bad brand at all, and they are cheaper than the ones I mentioned.

Website bookmarked. Where were these about two months ago?

The prices were a bit TOO low so I looked around the site and it turns out they sell actual kolinsky brushes AND those triangular "red sable" brushes. Unfortunately they don't have the triangle handle for the kolinsky, but Wikipedia says kolinsky brushes are also known as "red sable" brushes so I have no idea what Rosemary is using in their "pure red sable" brushes.

I bought a couple of the Army Painter brushes and I was not impressed.  For the price, I expected a better quality.  The handles are OK for control but the bristles are unsat.  The Regiment brush is OK for its purpose, but the "Insane Detail" brush lost its point within a day or two - and I take very good care of my brushes.  I think what they mean is, if you try to use this brush for details, you must be insane.

I am often forced to use lesser brushes due to availability, but I'd honeslty prefer to stick to Kolinsky brushes all the time if I could.  I know they are available online, but I like to actually inspect a brush before I lay down the money.  I've seen the sad shape some brushes are in just from packing and handling, let alone use.

I have started using the Rosemary series 323 spotter brushes. They hold a good amount of paint and the shortened bristles make control easy.

Personally I can't recommend the highly enough

I did try an Army Painter brush once but it went in the bin in 5 minutes, lJust like their spray paints to be honest.
