Combat_Vet
I won't say go easy LoL It's my "toes in the water" for many things so feel free to blast me as needed. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/845ed52e-1c63-43f1-ae5f-4c9d0537706b_zpsjqz2z963.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/076a77f4-719b-4ac4-a115-43a8e7e78fd0_zpsb5vfjram.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/18801cc4-3109-4d48-a1c8-200829856db9_zpscm8sfgkh.jpg First time: 1) chipping compound 2) rust streaks 3) pigments 4) airbrush 5)oil paints for shading I watched the weathering tutorial done by Awaken_Realms http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302164-awaken-realms-tutorials-thread/ and I thought to myself "he makes it look too easy". So I gave it a shot. I made lots of mistakes, but I can say the tutorial made me overcome my fear of my airbrush I bought a few months back. As always, any input, C&C, hints/tricks/advice are always welcome. Thanks for taking a look.
Carlson793
Okay, gentle critiques (mainly because a couple things jump out on what, to my eye, is a damn good paint job): Exhaust: You have soot coming from the top of the exhaust stacks, but none on the stack vents or in the 'tail' panel vents. A very light bit of soot would make those look more...active. Mud: Your mud line looks very isolated. It only goes up to the base of the insets and draws a fairly straight line front-to-back. Bring the mud into the insets, onto the exhaust stacks, on the side doors. Not a great deal of it - just enough to make it not look like the mud miraculously missed those areas. Also, don't forget the front edges of areas with mud - the sides are muddy at front and back, but nothing on the edges directly over the tracks. Again, a great job other than those two jump-out-at-ya items.
