Boltguns

There is an option for an officer to switch his lasermarker to a gun but is it really so that they aren't provided with the standard kits?

It's been a while since I cut out the bits from their sprues so I can't really remember if there was a boltgun and searching through my bits box (a horrible mess of things past and future mixed together) didn't give me any satisfactory results. This doesn't mean that there couldn't be one or two hidden among the clutter.. Just didn't find any.

Now I do have some csm bolters but I'd prefer using a loyalist one and no, I have sororitas but they are very keen on their wargear and can't contribute any.

Do I have to go to the local shop and try to find a spare boltgun?

baz is right, the Catachan CS box has a nice one on a bare arm if that's suitable. Otherwise it's a matter of converting one with a spare bolter, and getting one is easy. Just find your nearest Space Marine player and ask him if you can have one (because I can guarantee he has more than he could ever use :P ) :)

Cadian command has one on their sprue as well. Conversions aren't to hard to make, but the standard marine bolters look a little bulky on a guardsman but then again maybe they should.

I also have two sergeants with chainswords and pointing fingers that have a bolter "strapped" to their backs. If I need to make another I will probably use the grenade arms and clip the lasgun from its handle.

Find a marine player that built scouts with shotguns or pistol and ask him for his bolter pieces. They fit very well and I've a few sergeants modeled with them. You can take a standard lasgun and cut/shave the lasgun off. Clip the arm off the bolter as well. After that, they lasgun arms should fit fine with the bolter that, as a perk, will already have an arm grabbing it just like lasguns do.
