Master of Mankind...on the horizon?

Lost in the Webway wasn't he?

Nothing to say he didn't go in there via the human built section to keep it safe whilst Daddy went up to see his favourite son in orbit.

Malcador sat on the throne to seal it when the Emp went into Orbit, and Khan didn't get lost in the webway until long after the heresy.

Path of Heaven set this novel up for the Khan to be heavily involved in the "Hidden War". I wonder if Aaron is going to do something with him in this book.

Along with setting things up for Kyme's next "novel".

i've seen rumours floating on message  boards that adb isn't a fan of the scars or the khan, not sure how true any of that is or even why that would be the case. easily one of the more interesting legions imo.

It's more like...he has no interest in writing a certain legion

That legion is the AL. The reason being how the AL have been portrayed as a legion of 100,000 James Bonds, rather than a legion of 100,000 Astartes super-soldiers

Yeh... He's not gonna like that rumour...

He's already explained which Legion he had a "dislike" for, and it wasn't even a dislike for the Legion in question. Merely how they were portrayed.

See b1soul's post for ref.

oh yeah, i read that thread too. i'm pretty careful to specify "rumour". i mean, i saw another one saying management at GW were unhappy with "legion" despite its popularity. sometimes it seems the less a rumour makes sense, the more persistent the belief

"ADB doesn't like the White Scars" is probably one of those "There's no information either way, so it must be true" deals. I love the White Scars, though I don't love painting white, which is about the most negative thing I can think of saying about them. I really love Chris's take on them, too.

Sometimes (often, especially in the Horus Heresy series) I write what's free and available to write about at the time. I didn't not write about the Blood Angels or Prospero because I was avoiding them, for example, I didn't write about them because I couldn't. There's more freedom to choose what you want to write about in 40K. In the HH, it's often more about doing the best you can with what you can get, and realising that even getting to write about anything at all is a pretty damn awesome blessing.

Not to derail this thread, but GWs release schedule has all of a sudden become amazingly well thought out. I was excited for this novel on its own. Now that we know plastic Custodes will be released around the same time, I may go full man cave with this book and those models for at least a month. Job? What job?

That cover looks awesome. The Emperor could hardly look more impressive. I want a text free version as well, for the desktop background. Though I love the "Master of Mankind" title.

Seems there are a couple of very interesting things that have been long awaited, finally coming out around October/November.

MoM being a big one. Warzone Fenris Part 2 being another. It seems like the plan was certainly to release Horus Heresy Inferno around November as well, question is just, did they make it? Plastic Magnus. Plastic Custodes and a board game. Lots of stuff to do with the Thousand Sons around this period. I expect the limited edition of McNeill's Magnus Primarch novel will also be out before the end of the year. Leman Russ limited edition by Wraight out in October as well.

Just twigged - ADB writing about the Emperor is a spot-on choice. After all, the Master of Mankind is a larger than life character who we'll get attached to only to be brutally snatched away before he can fulfil his prophesied destiny.

I only hope when he goes to the great kennels in the sky, Emps gets to chill with Argel Tal and Talos and all of them forget what might have been.

Every time I see the cover, I hope against hope that someday, someone has a conversation with the Emperor that has them ask: "Who's faces are those on your armour? They're very detailed. Also: why?"

I mean, really. Animals and things? Sure. But people's faces? Not stylised or whatnot, but what look like faces of people who lived? C'mon Emperor, what's it all about?

I always took it as a representation of all the psykers that are fed to the astronomicon, on the basis that they don't particularly look like they're enjoying themselves and are singing their part in that choir. But if that was a post-heresy development, the idea falls apart.
