Master of Mankind...on the horizon?

I only hope when he goes to the great kennels in the sky, Emps gets to chill with Argel Tal and Talos and all of them forget what might have been.

Talos!??!?! ohmy.png Oh maaan! C'mon dude, I've only just hit the half way point of Soul Hunter and am loving Talos's character (that's saying a lot for me being a staunch loyalist), especially his meeting with Abaddon and treating the 40k warmaster like the piece of filth he is... spoiler tags if you pleeease sad.png

oh yeah, i read that thread too. i'm pretty careful to specify "rumour". i mean, i saw another one saying management at GW were unhappy with "legion" despite its popularity. sometimes it seems the less a rumour makes sense, the more persistent the belief

"ADB doesn't like the White Scars" is probably one of those "There's no information either way, so it must be true" deals. I love the White Scars, though I don't love painting white, which is about the most negative thing I can think of saying about them. I really love Chris's take on them, too.

Sometimes (often, especially in the Horus Heresy series) I write what's free and available to write about at the time. I didn't not write about the Blood Angels or Prospero because I was avoiding them, for example, I didn't write about them because I couldn't. There's more freedom to choose what you want to write about in 40K. In the HH, it's often more about doing the best you can with what you can get, and realising that even getting to write about anything at all is a pretty damn awesome blessing.

thanks for the clarification, adb. seems rumour mongers abhor a vacuum as much as nature does.

Kendel's path is elsewhere. She's not on good terms with the Sisters of Silence anymore, and is an agent of Malcador.

Yep. As one of the editors said to sum it up when I originally gave them the synopsis: "This isn't about the characters we've seen before. This is about the characters who have been getting [EXPLETIVE DELETED] done this whole time."

Glad to hear that. It is definitely time for some new faces rather than resorting to the same few over and over. Kendel specifically I'd rather see out and about, doing more jobs like in Ghosts Speak Not (which I thought was excellent), than getting tied up in the Webway War til possibly the end of the war.

There's plenty on Terra and in the Sol System to be used without beating a dead horse, and I trust that you've picked the best pieces for the story you want to tell.

That's still why I'm obsessed with thinking "Beyond the Golden Throne" is the cooler subtitle (coulda/woulda/shoulda). As per the entry by the same title in collected visions - we get the veil peeled from over everything to see that, in some senses, the War in the Webway is the *only* important thing being done during the Heresy. Everything else is secondary or supplementary at best.

If that fails, the rest of the whole business might as well be a big ol' waste of time.

(From a certain point of view.)

(Fortunately it's not the only point of view, but it's a compelling one.)

That very fact is addressed in detail in The Master of Mankind, because it's an inarguable truth. One might say it's the theme of the novel. They definitely haven't locked themselves in the basement because the stakes are low and it's a fun day out.

Ugh, the more I hear of this novel, the less I like of it.

In my experience people lock themselves for the same reason people spend time in sheds: to get away from it a bit and pretend they're busy, possibly even to partake in narcotics on a comfy chair.

Teehee!

I think that that "teehee" by AD-B is because they are not locking themselves away to deal with their "inner demons" they are locking the very real demons out. Or attempting to, at least. :) Should be great. Tagline: These inner demons are itching to get out.

Alas. Prose is not my friend

You know, if the Emperor didn't want people worshipping him, he should have really stopped acting like a god, or at least stopped dressing like one.

True

Every time I see the cover, I hope against hope that someday, someone has a conversation with the Emperor that has them ask: "Who's faces are those on your armour? They're very detailed. Also: why?"

I mean, really. Animals and things? Sure. But people's faces? Not stylised or whatnot, but what look like faces of people who lived? C'mon Emperor, what's it all about?

Drunkard party?

Do we have a tentative release date?

If November 19th is a pre-release - so the beginning of December should be general release

True, you didn't do it yourself? tongue.png Strange biggrin.png

"Constantin, our dealer really outdid himself this time."

-the Emperor, beloved by all, circa 10 M31

By a ton ;)

Don't know where you guys are getting that glorious Neil Roberts cover from, all I can find is this beauty:

Call the service - ratmen has been detected biggrin.png

I hope there are Eldar in the story.

It would be good to have some filthy Xeno's in the throne room for a bit.

I'm hoping the novel will have Eldar characters as well.

ADB, are they included?

Sometimes it is good to have some new characters (Like Talos or Argel Tal) instead of big figureheads who are like grey blocks.

I hope that each chapter title of this book is named after an Iron Maiden song.

Naw, the webway's a big place and they're not present in the Imperial sections of it. There's a fair bit about the eldar as a species, obviously, but they don't show up and save the day or anything. I considered putting them in at various points but it felt like diluting the story every time, so I kept it pure and more focused.

Argh. Hindsight is always 20-20.
