Death Guard - Pride of the Legion

Hey guys

So I am planning to do a Pride of the Legion all terminator based force, led by Typhon, but was looking for some advice of what else to get in the army. Such as, what supporting Consuls would be good, what to take in elites now TDA are troops (I'm guessing Contemptors), how to run the Grave Wardens ect (im taking it that they stay as Heavy, but I have emailed Forge World to confirm).

I am useless at lists, so many choices make my head spin. So some advice would be welcome and I can then write up a list later. The plan is for this to be a side project but I am going to aim for around 3000 points.

It's not particularly fluffy, but Vigilators with Recon Armour attached to Terminator Squads grant Terminators Scout, Infiltrate and Move Through Cover (useful as you're not "The Reaping). They can't take Terminator Armour, obviously, but the sheer bundle of rules contained within there are fantastic.

Chaplains give you Fearless-lite, but and it's rare that Going to Ground will get you a better Cover Save than a 4+ Armour Save.

A Forge Lord in Cataphractii Armour can pick up a 3++ Invulnerable which can let it tank shots, but isn't really much use unless taking some tanks (and even then, his Battlesmith rule is marginal without bonuses to the roll).

As for Elites; you have the variant Dreadnought Talons; with the arrival of the Deredeo (soon), I'm not so sure of Contemptors anymore. The Mortis was the only real one I had a lot of faith in, because it provided reasonable (short range) Anti Air Cover in a list which entirely lacked non-Flier AA; but the short range has never been a fan of mine; and now there's one which mounts a better weapon system for AA (range and damage), and can adequately kill marines for only ~15pts more. As they're a heavy, it means that I have to choose between the cheaper Sicarans, similar cost Fire Raptors, or the more expensive Achilles-Alpha, or the Grave Wardens; I think there's little need for the Achilles, while the Grave Wardens are lackluster against the current 30K legiones, leaving Sicarans as the cheap option and Fire Raptor for the better LoS.

And yes, the Wardens stay as Heavy Support; they're not elites, so unaffected by Pride of the Legion.

Terminators struggle with Legion Armour; Melta rarely cuts it due to Armoured Ceramite, and they lack access to Meltabombs. This is where Destroyers with Jump Packs may come in handy. You can take Shred Hand Flamers as the special weapon so they're not as sucky, and also take Meltabombs, plus a few Phosphex pieces to kill enemy Terminators if you need.

A Legion Quad Mortar battery just allows you to plop a load of wounds on enemy units.

Other choices; less fluffy, but Outriders, and Jetbikes also make good Meltabomb delivery, but failing that, Land Speeders provide relentless Graviton Guns (i.e haywire); but as lightly armoured skimmers, with Blast weapons, I find them pretty easy to get rid of, so discount them.

Thanks for the detailed answer.

Maybe I should drop the all terminator dream and have supporting units of destroyers. Would it be advisable to load my Terminator squads in land raiders or is that ambitious at 3000 points?

I'm not sure I will take the vigilator, I see the point about the rules advantage but doesn't really fit with my vision. Would a Siege Breaker in TDA be useful?
