Chefzilla
I'm painting the Larkin model from Gaunt's Ghosts and had an idea and question. I'm looking at his cape and thought about gluing flock on it to give a sort of ghillie suit affect. Anyone seen this done or done it? What do you think? Will this work or will it come out like crap? Lucien Eilam
I've seen it done. I've never seen it not look like crap. For me, it always looks crude and oversized at this scale. Teetengee
Maybe just a rough sand job might do it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303090-ig-sniper-larkin/#findComment-3941931 Share on other sites

shaun03
Try a form of cravckling paint. And lightly wash over it. Perhaps that will give u textur your looking for. The thing about ghillies is more stringy that bushy. Many layers of Burlap tied down over each other. Goal being to break up outline not look like a giant bush. Common Enemy
Have you thought about Liquid Green Stuff? I've seen that used to give cloaks a really ratty and worn appearance, so maybe if you used a stiff brush and tried dragging it in alternating direction? (drying between layers) That could make a nice texture, then its just drybrushing it camo colours etc...I've also got Larkin which i intend to paint up to use as a vindicare assassin in my IH force, so maybe i'll try playing with liquid GS on his cloak. Grotsmasha
The problem with flock is that it never feels right due the grass never adhering to gravity, it's always willy-nilly-everywhere. CommodusXIII
Use a static grass applicator? EDIT: To be more specific, use a static grass applicator to apply the grass in a way that it stands up, rather than forming a matted mess. Let the glue set for a short period of time, and brush the grass flat in the desired direction. If you wait too long, the grass won't brush flat and if you don't wait long enough it will pull away or mat together. Best to practice this a few times before attempting it on your actual figure.
