Forgeworld's big toys assembly

Recommended Posts

I recently sold some stuff on ebay and the money is burning a Bloodthirster sized hole in my paypal pocket...

I'm not the greatest modeler and don't want to buy anything that needs tons of shaving or bending or drilling or pinning etc so how much hassle is involved in building say a Warhound or Thunderhawk, or on a lesser scale, a Brass Scorpion or Daemon Lord?

Cheers!

The Warhound needs lots of drilling and pinning in the legs be sturdy enough to move around without fear. Also, there are power cables that need to be heated and bent into position. The call of chaos WIP thread linked in my sig has photos of how many parts a Chaos Warhound comes in. I followed a Loyalist build plan that can be found here: https://wildboarblog.wordpress.com/works-in-progress/warhound-titan/

Any large kit from Forge World will require moderate to advanced building and modeling skills. Some production defects in their kits are minor and cosmetic; they can be ignored if the builder chooses. Other defects will be down right critical to solve so that the model assembles cleanly/properly.

Don't let that scare you off, and take the opportunity to increase your skills and confidence working on something more complex. I would suggest starting with a 'smaller' kit like a Brass Scorpion which you can use to get a feel for the kinds of problems you'll need to fix with a FW kit. If you don't lose your mind on something like that, maybe a more ambitious build won't be so intimidating.
