So then here is a question, since assault squads can get a pod for free by ditching their jumppacks, do you actually pay for the points still to upgrade the weapons, or is at a free potd with free upgrades.

 

When it says upgrade the model to a veteran sergeant for 10pts, do you get all his wargear for free? ;)

No you don't because that sergeant upgrade isn't gear it's master change usually an extra attack and leadership.m the free drop pod is just that a free drop pod which says nothing about upgrades. The drop pods are much cheaper stock than a rhino but only a meltabomb more expensive than a rhino which is a lot closer on points than the cheaper pod option. So yes, your get a better points value when you exchange these jumppacks for a rhino than the pod, but that death wing pod is a bit more attention grabbing than a rhino.

 

So your example isn't exaclty the same quality in regards to upgrades as a vet sergeant upgrade is a stats change not a wargear difference.

Well. It is exactly that, in that you get an extra profile, but not any of the optional extras.

 

You pay 10pts, you get a veteran sergeant, not a veteran sergeant with a powerfist.

 

You swap your jump packs and get a free drop pod, not a free drop pod with deathwind launcher :)
