What was the Vth doing after Prospero but before the Siege?

...so they slaughter Orks on Chondax, then bust out of the Alpha Legion "blockade", then visit Prospero

After that...do they do nothing but travel to Terra and participate in the Siege?

What I'm hoping for is a running conflict between Scars and Death Guard. I understand that FW is probably going to cover the WS last...but does that necessarily mean the Scars aren't getting coverage until the Siege? I hope not

  • 2 weeks later...

Magnus took a while to decide who's side he was on so part of it they were doing nothing.

Edit: Doh, saw V and Prospero and thought you meant XVth... Erm... Hit and run stuff on the traitors maybe?

I don't think they can walk into the Sol system without having to answer a lot of questions.

But hopefully they will be out kicking arse for a while before the awkward family reunion.

I'm sure the Vth could slip past the blockades of terra, made planet fall and look like they have been in the ale houses all along, waiting for the wolves to turn up. Whilst using the deserts of 'Mercia as their super sized speedway course.

From what I understand of the next set of novels, the Death Guard are due to run into the Dark Angels under Corswain next following on from Vengeful Spirit... I think.

That doesn't preclude some kind of team up between the Scars and the DA, but I don't think there's any precedent for it in the existing background... I don't really mind, because I'd love to see more of the Death Guard and the Scars beating the stuffing out of each other (I really enjoyed the Khan and Mortarion's fight in Scars), but we live among those who are easily angered by the slightest change to the background.

No, I completely agree... But it's an inversion of 'evidence of absence is not absence of evidence' that those that are more hard-lined about the background will likely kick up a stink about.

I'd love to see more of them, especially alongside the Dark Angels, because it may bring two Legions that I'm quite interested in closer to getting their rules in a FW book.

I kinda hope we see the scar's in a MAJOR role. They have never really had much a feel apart from 'space mongols' until they were fluffed out fairly nicely last year with fresh insight being shown into how terran legionaries were amalgamated into WS ranks and shown the teachings of the WS home world society as to better adapt and understand rituals and rolls, kind of gave them depth and a bit of a 'mixed' cosmopolitan feel to represent a mixture of both eastern and western cultural trademarks.

I hope we see Jaghatai Khan fill his time in another form of conflict, instead of just travelling to Terra we see him and his largely unscathed forces crushing rear guard elements of traitor legions factions whilst 'cleansing' all 'neutral' sectors of space unwilling to surrender and join in the loyalist fighting straight out. (Abit like how Genghis Khan on whom Jaghatai Khan is based would aid/supply regions who surrendered out right and decimate all those who were undecided or refused to aid in their fight for the imperium)

So more to to the point what i hope i see is, The Khan gets a fresh start as a 'raider'   we see the White Scars charge of to terra using their fast tactics and style of warfare to harry and simply bypass enemy positions as Terra is more important only stopping to aid support from undecided loyalists whilst crushing undecided/traitor key points on the way having a real effect on the logistic supply line to the Warmasters forces allowing them to reach Terra first and being in a position to better aid their brethren and him on the throne.

Well in scars the Khan says he's heading for Terra, so anything could happen I guess, I don't think he'll raid places though he seems quite adamant at finding the root of the problem and now he kind of knows Horus's side of the story from Mortarion and Magnus, he now wants to hear the Emperors.

Indeed...I liked how Wraight made the Scars a bit backward and (dare I use the word) a bit "racist" (how the Vth prefers Terran recruits of Asiatic descent and how Torghun, a blonde Scandinavian recruit, resents this). Their mystical, poetical leanings were also quite flavourful.

Torghun is a really interesting character because he's essentially one of the rarest members of the legion (a non-Asiatic Terran). Thus his desire for the legion to join Horus and hopefully abandon its barbaric ways

I really hope the Scars aren't just ignored until the Siege.
