Warsmith Aznable
My Sisters have a vaguely Greek theme, which seems to fit well enough. Squad Antigone and so forth. I forget off the top of my head, but I have a list somewhere where I had names in alphabetical sequence, just because such symmetry pleases me. Latin words for good things turned into names, like Verity or Honoria also "sound right." Biblical/Hebrew names would sound right for nuns, I guess. Really it probably doesn't matter what tradition/ethnicity they come from as long as you stay consistent in your convention. Consistency creates a kind if legitimacy on its own. Jacinda
You could use the seven virtues for names; chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility. Some of those are already common enough for names. Others, like kindness, is kind of unwieldy. Pop it into a thesaurus for other words. Solicitude ... maybe Sister Solicity? It kind of works. Then there are the angles ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_angels_in_theology You could also pick a culture, any culture, and google up .. idunno ... pict women names. Maybe Sioux women names. Heck, you could even search for names of famous prostitutes (which came up with this as its top pick http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prostitutes_and_courtesans ) Hmmm, it looks like Mary turns up in that list a few times. Don't name your daughter Mary. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303344-sister-of-battle-squad-names/#findComment-3947742 Share on other sites

Aqui
OH! You have to name one of them Miko I did consider it My Sisters names are all over the place. Anime (Ryoko [Hakubi], Motoko [Kusanagi], Rei [Ayanami] etc), names from people I work with (lise...well Lisa really, but still), names of characters from other scifi series (Saffron and Sera, as in Inara Sera ). I'll have to re-arrange a few names for consistency :0 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303344-sister-of-battle-squad-names/#findComment-3948038 Share on other sites

*Furyou Miko
As long as your 'Miko' is called Miko because it means 'shrine maiden' and not because you're naming it after me Mine all have book-related names. Indicia, Bibliya, Imelda Ecrire (OK, that's a last name), Libra, Carta, Scriptus, Anota, Hon, Shoseki, Ktieb... Other suggested themes - flowers/herbs (Rosemary, Saffron, Asphodel, Ying), death (Thana, Hel, Asphodel, Susan), war (Aella, Dalena, Sigrun, Victoria), virtues (Chastity, Hope, Sophie, Verity), or colours (Ailbhe, Iole, Siena, Shani). Willy Pete
I went with Celtic names for my Canonesses. Overall Canoness, Boudica (of course). Canoness of my Dominions, Scatha. Canoness of my Seraphim, (not usable since Canonesses can't have jump packs anymore) Maev. And, as overall leader of my Celestians, Macha. Another good source would be the names of the fey, Titainia and Mab were both badasses in the old traditional tales. Le Morte d'Arthur is another good source for old style female names Celtic and otherwise, although you have to search for them. Maybe, if you want something a little different, Vietnamese or Chinese names. Both countries had some really hardcore female warriors throughout their history, and it would definitely not be run of the mill.
