Reinforcement Requisiton

My fellow Sons of the Angel,

Tax season has been good to me, and I'm trying to best decide what to get to add to my army. I've narrowed it down to two choices. Currenly, I have a 30% coupon, specifically for 40k models at my FLGS and have a budget of $113. So, my eyes are locked onto a Knight Titan, the codex, and some paints.

However, there is also the GW competiton that could potentially yield an entire Knight House and several BA companies. And, if I go this way, I'm going to buy some bikers and a priest, who have become new regulars in my BA lists.

So, which way do my brothers think I should go? Gamble for the win or take the Knight?

Depends on how much you really want that knight, and how accepted it is in your gaming group msn-wink.gif

This. The same goes with Forgeworld stuff. If your gaming group is very, shall we say "medieval", about what you can use then you should probably go for the wiser purchase.

In my area, knights are allowed, though perhaps not encouraged. My 40k mentor has two knights and regularly fields one or the other. So, I know I will be able to field the knight often and won't be a trophy unit. (Which, if that happened, my wife won't be unhappy with me)

I'm specifically looking at the Knight Paladin and would use it as either a long-range fire support or mid-range distraction unit, since the Blood Angels can handle close range quite well by themselves.

Just in case, I will text him and ask how often he's told not to field it, but I'm still optimistic.

I still say go with the bikers and priest.

Say you buy the Knight, then you win the tourney and recive more knights. Now you have more super-heavies than you will ever use (hardly the worst problem in the world I'll grant you) but now you still have to go and buy some bikes and a priest on top of all the new Knight stuff you've got to assemble and paint.

If you really want the knight, get the knight. Knights are awesome models and look great painted up. And anyone who complains about someone fielding ONE Knight is not someone to be bothered with anyway.

My only bugaboo would be the Knight Codex. Its 45 bucks for 3 pages of rules. Rules anyone can find online. The art work and fluff was cool, bit I felt like to get the full picture GW was really forcing the painting guide down

your throat (GW trying to double their money that way?

WHHAAA...)

Buy the Knight get battlescribe for the knight rules and use the codex money on a Sanguinary Priest. Like what the Angel would want you to do.

Heh. Unfortunately, that would be beyond my budget, even with the coupon.

No, after much contemplation, I've decided against the Knight, for now. Save it as a reward for when I get a better job.

Instead, I'm definitely picking up a priest, but I've hit a snag when it comes to bikes. If I'm reading the GW website entry right, the SM bikes don't come with Grav-guns, which is primarily why I field them. So, it looks like the upgrade pack comes with a single Grav-gun, but is that the only way or even the best way to get them?

Agreed. Ultimately, I'm choosing against the Knight because it'll be a little bit more than my max. amount I'm allowed. Barely, but it'll be much easier if I go with the priest/bikes. That and I save my coupon for a better day. And I'm throwing in Mansions of Madness, my favorite board game.

I started playing 40k during the second edition. In the Wargear book they were called graviton guns but were in the process of being phased out it seemed. When FW started the HH series and brought them back as graviton guns, and then when the sixth edition of C:SM rolled around, GW called them grav guns (similar grav cannon as opposed to graviton cannon in 30k).

In short, that is the long winded version of saying they are the same.

Currently, there is one in the vanilla and one in the BA Tactical boxes which have a different design. Perhaps check a specialist bits website rather than Ebay?
