Resurrection is a talent I share with James Bond.

So, after being back on the forums for a week or two i have had a pretty fantastic hobby week. Allow me to explain.

My local gaming club has made me part of the admin team, so I am organising events, boards, scenery and the such. And sanction has been given for me to make a Calth board.. Which is awesome.

Also, a couple of guys I have been introduced to in the last week, new to the area, are HUGE 30k fans. So I brought one of them to the club that week and we got 30k chatting and now I am fuelled by my desire to represent the Ultramarines locally.

We now have a World Eaters, Night Lords, Word Bearers, Sons of Horus and Ultramarine player.

Means I have to take the lot out ;) easy mode.

Also, as per my most recent posts on this forum, I was still looking for an ally to this force in my hobby break. And have found it with Mechanicum. I have run it past my tournament organiser and he is groovy and the gang with it.

So that's happening right now. I've also changed my 30list around quite fundamentally, check the lists page if you want to see.

Painting and building resumes this week. Woop woop.

Hey I just read through your entire thread and I hope I can see some painted ultramarines soon :) The models were looking awesome just bare and I kept on hoping the next post would have them painted.

Sucks to hear about people being unreceptive of 30k, despite using forgeworld in their lists ( I chuckled when I read the Eldar guy liking how the Legion didnt have ATSKNF, of course he would)

Yup. Since I played that first game IV played 3 more. For just a quick run down.

Played a Guard Player with the Force Shield generator jobby thing. Tabled him in 3 turns.

Played a Daemon player, 2k points, who summoned in total another 1800 points, and I tabled him by turn 6.

Played a Tau player and slaughtered him turn 3.

Next challenges go up tomorrow, so I shall know my opponent.

Cool stuff and can't wait to see more. Did you work further on your Pollux conversion? Would love to see how you managed it. Also would love to see pictures of Angron's sword.

I'm also starting an Ultramarines force soon with a breacher/roman theme and Pollux as a praetor sounds really cool.

Evening Gents, its been a long time since i posted.

As some of you may know, i was building an Ultramarine army (See Above) but i was sort of half forced to turn it into a 40k force due to too many local players in the campaign i was involved in complaining about how overpowered 30k was and shouldnt be allowed in blah blah blah. It got me down, i sold most of my army off and i medium quit the hobby.

Well in the last month or so i have really got back into it, and am intending to start up again. After watching so many players play 30k now, i am really keen to stop building to a "List" and build to a "Collection" and amass, well a Legion.

I have convinced a few good local players, and good friends, to join me in a 30k campaign event i plan to run over a few months using the Conquest system, emulating the Shadwo Crusade and Imperium Secundus. We have myself as the potentiall Ultramarine, the Word Bearer, the Dark Angel, and a World Eater. And enough Daemons and Guard around to mix it up, with a sprinkle of Knights.

So today the Word Bearer player challenged me, but i have no army, i so borrowed a friends Imperial Fist army from 40k, and added a few bits, and played him.

As you can see we played on the Luscious Green Forest Moon of Istvaan... -__- we ended up just calling it Endor tongue.png

As you can see my army was in the background, which comprised of

Alexis Polux, in a Land Raider, with 10 Phalanx Warders

2 Tactical Squads in Rhinos, AA and Combi Melta

5 Legion Terminators with Storm Shields and Thunder Hammers

1 Legion Dreadnought with Missile Launcher and Lascannon

1 Legion Dreadnought with 2 DDCW and underslung Melta Guns

5 Legion Heavy Support Squad Marines with Heavy Bolters

1 Legion Vidicator

It wasnt a great list, but its what he had plus my Polux and Phalanx Warders

http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s604/Frostmourne1138/IMG_0133_zpsg2affchq.jpg

He used,

Zardy Layak with Blade Slaves

5 Gal Vorbak

Mara Ghal

2 Legion Tactical Squads with Rhinos

1 Legion Rapier Battery with Grav Cannon

5 Legion Heavy Support Marines with Lascannons

1 Legion Contemptor with T.L Kheres and CML

1 Legion Contemptor with 2 Plasma Cannons

I think that was it.

I wont do a huge Batrep as it was a long game. But was legitimately the first game with the 30k rules we have both played, and especially with the scenarios. We got the Ambush Deployment and the mission with 1 objective in each others deployment.

Long and short of it, he pretty much tabled me. I one shotted his Mara Ghal with a Combi Melta with an Overwatch. He annihilated my Phalanx Warders with plasma and grav blasts, despite re rolls and everything.

The last picture is horrible, as my LR Immobilised itself on that tree... i know i know, but it did. Livid.

Anyway, it was a fantastic game, and i am so glad we played it. Using our own Legion Rules, and not necessarily the Rites of War we realised how diverse these Legions can be, which has made me rethink playing Ultramarines. I really think i need more time to think on it.

At the moment, my Hobby Project is thus, while running this Campaign.

To amass a decent collection of Ultramarines, and theme them around the muster at Macragge around Imperium Secundus time. Add in Polux and some Imperial Fists, add in some Space Wolves, some Sallies and Iron Hnds (Just a squad or two of each) for collection purposes. Then when Dark Angels are completely out, collect them enmass.

I really love the special units for Ultramarines, and thats what keeps me going for them. And i do love them in the books, but no more than Iron Hands, Salamanders, Death Guard, Emperors Children, Luna Wolves, Dark Angels, Imperial Fists etc etc. So i am not ready to properly invest yet.

I like this Imperium Secudus thing, but i think i will get distracted easilly, what i need is to stick to a Legion and collect all of it. So i think what may come down to my decision, is a "points system" on what Legion has the best units, rules and special characters, and Primarch of course.

Over the next week or two i am going to get these Fists i have painted up and keep using my friends army to sharpen up my playing skills and knowledge of 30k. I will be posting more batreps, and WiP's once i have decided what i want.

Thanks for reading guys, any hints tips or advice would be great smile.png

Looks like great fun!

I've been collecting Ultramarines for a while and have loved every aspect of them.

I faced a friends Imperial fists today and they are a hard force to fight.

BS5 on all bolter weapons plus those t5 breachers! They held Guilliman up for

3 (yes 3!) turns!

If you don't mind painting yellow go for it!

Imperial Fists are a brutal force for sure. And they do look great in a decent Yellow, and Breachers are awesome and Polux is King.

They are a strong contender. I have put the Lord of the Rings on, and i have decided by the end of the Trilogy (So 12 hours) i will have decided haha

Also Jud, your Ultra's are incredible, you know i think this.

Okay so after having a good session with the rule books, the Forgeworld Site, and a few conversations with my local gaming group. I have decided to stick with Ultramarines, i do love them so. And other projects like Dark Angels should wait until they have all of their models and rules and so forth.

Until that time i shall continue to collect the Avenging Sons forces and love it. Consequently I have deleted my list off of my phone as that was bogging me down with special units, reread Tempest and found a theme to rally around.

Tetrarch Eikos Lemiad, there is a short paragraph in Tempest where he leads a small force of ragged ultramarines, Telemechrus, some mechanicum units and finally solar auxilia.

This will be the basis of my new force, At least to assemble on the table top in larger games, but to unify my collection.

Theme Eikos on a Praetor level character (Although i do not know much about his armament)

Honoured Telemechrus

Invictarus Suzerain (His command squad)

Veteran Tactical Squads in Rhinos

Land Raider for the Suzerain, if not a Spartan

Armoured Units such as Predators and Sicarans, and more Contemptors.

Mix into that a small allied Mechanicum force, basically enough to get a Thanatar as they are Kings.

Then a small Solar Auxilia Force to use in side games.

All of these forces will help massively in spicing up and varying the lists i bring to my local campaign event in the new year.

Hopefully Christmass brings me the Betrayal at Calth Set and some Suzerains, then i can start putting together some Armoured Units and get going.

I love this! Eikos freeing Telemechrus and leading a contingent to meet up with the 4th company at the guildhall was such an epic moment, all the while doing it with one arm!

I also think its really cool how this ties in with my ventanus force....hmm now all we need is someone to make one based off sergeant anchise...

Haha, lets drag Dantioch into it msn-wink.gif haha

Thanks man, can you remember (I am about 15 miles away from my copy of Know No Fear), what he was armed with, no pun intended.. haha. Thunder Hammer, Sword, Axe?

power sword i believe, there is one part in KNF where he "raises his sword in his one good arm and sweeps his warriors in the street fight"
