CommissarZac
Hello all I need your advice on how to correct my mistake. While magnitizing my barrel fr my leman russ vanquisher the magnet flipped and I cant get it back out of the countersink hole I drilled. Any advice is appreciated. Father Mehman
I would cut a hole the height of your magnet right next it and then pry it up and off. Re-glue the cut piece and try not to flip it next time! CommissarZac
thank you so much that did the trick Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303462-magnetizing-mistakes/#findComment-3950458 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Yep "dig" a small hole beside it and lever it out. To prevent this sort of stuff happening, I use an already magnetised item with the spare magnet on it to push it into place, that way I can't mess up the polarisation. e.g. When magnetising Marine Special Weapons, I *always* use the same plasma gun to push new magnets into any newly drilled hands. elmo
Glad that sorted it out for you. Grotsmashas method of using the opposing magnet to place the other one is ideal to avoid this sort of mistake. Lucio
I usually insert a stack of magnets into the holes, and let the glue dry. Once it has, you can remove the excess magnets and be sure that they're orientated the right way, plus it makes sure that the glue bond is strong enough. Fortis
A quick and easy method I use when magnetizing is to stick the first magnet in whatever way round you want (poles dont really matter at this point). When you come to fixing the corresponding/second magnet in place, get your stack of magnets and move it slowly towards the first/fixed magnet: if there is repulsion, you know this is the end to put in first to the hole for the second magnet. Likewise, if there is attraction, use the other end!
