3k Emperor's Children inc Fulgrim

Hi folks,

I'm looking for some thoughts on a HH Emperor's Children army lists I'm thinking of building. A group of friends have decided to build armies of 3000 points, including Primarch.

The list below uses the Pride of the Legion Rite of War, mainly for fluff purposes. As Fulgrim can select his warlord trait, during missions that require aggressive tactics I thought using the Master of Ambush trait would work best to infiltrate the Terminators and Palatine Blades to maximise their combat potential. During defensive missions where this isn't as necessary, a different trait could be substituted in.

I am unsure if I should drop one Veteran Squad in lieu of something else, possibly Rylanor the Unyielding or something heavier.

HQ

Lord Commander Eidolon (205pts)

Jump Pack

Troops

2x Terminator Squad (Tartaros Pattern) (394pts each)

Sergeant w/Phoenix Spear, 9x Terminators, 1x Chainfist, 2x Combi-weapons, 2x Power Fists, 2x Plasma Blasters

3x Veteran Tactical Squad (260pts each)

Sergeant w/Power Weapon, 9x Veterans, 2x Missile Launcher and Suspensor Web

Elites

Palatine Blade Squad (351 pts)

Prefector w/Phoenix Spear and Melta Bombs, 7x Palatine Warriors, 2x Phoenix Spears, 5x Power Swords, Sonic Shriekers, Jump Packs

Fast Attack

Javelin Attack Speeder Squadron (170pts)

2x Speeders w/Twin-linked Cyclone Missile Launchers, 2x Hunter-killer Missiles

Primaris-Lightning Strike Fighter (190pts)

Twin-linked Lascannon, Twin-linked Autocannon, Batter Servitor Control, Ramjet Diffraction Grid

Heavy Support

Sicaran Battle Tank (135pts)

Lord of War

Fulgrim (380pts)

Thanks in advance

Hi welcome!

Couple of things I noticed.

Fulgrim - generally he must be transported into battle or given a nice big blob of infantry with apothecary In to get him into the fight.or at least across the board. Also, make sure he's equipped with fire blade, better stats than the laer sword.

He only has 5++ out of combat, but he will wreck face when he's in there with his 2+/3++ and his stats.

Is he getting up with the teminators? Maybe a 10 man squad? If so, it may be worthwhile to invest in a primus medicae to protect that expensive footslogger squad..unless your sinking them into a transport.

3 foot slogging vets are pricey and vulnerable. Stick then in a rhino if you want to use them. Personally if take 1 squad maybe, and then have tacticals in rhinos for objective capturing. I think that hvy weapons in them are wasted a bit due to the rest of them with bolters, but that's my personal feeling ☺️

Speeders are good! Outflanking or deep striking?

Primaris- I'd stick some kraken missiles on that bad boy, it will delete anything armour wise that is punishing your squads on the turn it arrives. Failing that sunfury or phosphex if you want to kill infantry. You can deep strike it also if you want to.

Sicaran - can't go wrong there you got heavy bolters on it, and maybe a combi weapon pintle?

Palatines and eidolon yes, Winning squad if supported well, beware 3+ armour.

For target saturation, maybe split one of the terminators into 2 squads? Gives you that flexibility?

That's about it from me!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've seen your contribution to the tactica thread so it's good to get a response from someone who knows what they're talking about :)

The strategic trait I was looking to use on assault missions allows him to infiltrate as well as 3 units. He would be placed in with a terminator squad that way. Thanks for the Fireblade reminder...forgot to write that down.

I did wonder about the veterans. There is plenty of anti-armour in the list already, perhaps regular tacticals would be better. The main reason I took them was because another player has Night Lords, so fearless would be useful.

Regarding the speeders (also the flyer), I think their deployment will depend on the mission. Deep Strike probably would get the best opportunity at rear armour though.

I'll have a look at the other suggestions. I think it depends on points restrictions.

Thanks
