++// 2015 Augustus' Arena \\++ EVENT ENDED

I have to ask (and am aware that English isn't everyone's first language), why are we divided in first, second and third chickens?

Poule, not poultry. I realize not everyone is multilingual. :tongue.:  It's a French term, used in many internationally played sports and game tournaments, including 40K. If you want to make a point of it, you can substitute 'poule' with 'group'.

I guess that's the same thing as English pool or Polish pula.

Am I okay to accept a new challenge now?

Lucio would've probably asked why we're divided in three backyard artificial lakes if I'd have written pool. ;)

You are, technically okay to do that, as are you issuing one. But I suggest waiting for March 15th, as then there's a whole pool of participants who are also done, and the challenges can start en mass. :tu:

Due to some complications with the delivery of GK models which will prevent me to complete my challenge I hereby declare that I will paint the same amount of models, three terminators, only that they will be the Chaos one. Sadly I have to wait more than a month for any new models to arrive.

So the acceptance vow is as follows:

I, Tenebris, accept the challenge set to me by FortresMastery, and vow that I will finish building, painting, and basing three Chaos Terminators before April 15th. Completion will earn me eternal glory, while failure shall yield me shame until Midsummer.

As per request by the organizer of this event I have to pay a tribute to the VIIIth legion, one terminator has to have a Night Lords helmet trophy on his person. A fair tribute to the warband of Lord Augustus.

Started the Praetors axe, tried to do a light to dark fade. Not sure how it came out.

Anybody know how to do rose gold? and how to get the axe to look like it is coated in frost are have an icy blue glow?

Just done straight up gold

Any ideas what colour to do the handle?

My pledge is completed :smile.: this challenge was just the thing I needed to get the unit done.

Congrats on the finished unit! Looks real sweet. I like the bright gasmasks contrasting with the rest of the paintscheme.

I'm still painting away, just finished the shading. Still got some cleanup and all the highlighting to do.

...and Completion! Not my best work by far, but the important thing is I got off my butt and got 'em done! Generally happy with how they turned out, even considering the Mk IV's chainsword broke off while I was picking it up after flat coating it (think that one had a bad batch of resin - the spotlight snapped off under minimal pressure early in the build).

Finally making progress! Got my Alpha Legion Contemptor primed when we had a break in the snow & ice:

And now, through time spent on lunch breaks, I've gotten the basic armor and the metal edging bits done minus a wash once the rest of it's done:

Armor + Metal

Trying to decide on doing the Hydras on the chest and elsewhere in pure metallic tones, or in doing them in green with a metallic drybrush to pick the edges in a silverish. Now that I type it out, though, I think the latter is what I'll do.

Nicely done Brother, I like the halved paint scheme on their helmets.

Salamanders lore. An Apothecary in their past refused to wash the blood of his fallen Brothers from the side he held them on as he worked, so took to painting his left arm and left side of his helmet red. The practice became traditional for the whole Legion/Chapter.

Oh, and thanks. :happy.:

YES! Awesome completions coming in and I'm glad to see there's some last-minute updates.

Only three days to go, my friends!

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

@ShVagYer: that is a beautiful ultramarine squad. Very classy, and classic! Congrats on an awesome finish!

@Midnight Runner: Wow, another stunning DC squad. You can be rightly proud of that. I remain a fan of your blue-skinned maniacs. :tu:

@Carlson793: Congrats on the finsih of those cool Apothecaries mate. Nice colour scheme and I'm happy you found motivation in this event :D

Can't remember where I got the 'wash over metal' idea (March of Legions XVIIIth?) but I'm liking it. Hell the way my motivation was for Round 1, I might have to have a second go - be nice if I can get a fire under me to get those Firedrakes painted, especially since we're having a good primer day (after being in the 30s/40s yesterday).

I.... think I'm done! More pics here! A big thank you to everyone who's helped out with inspiration and feedback, especially Lucio for your help and for challenging me to do this. Without your input I would never have considered making the Helbrecht model and the other guys would probably still be sitting on the shelf waiting for me to stop procrastinating over them. :D Also big shout out the Augustus for putting this on (and putting up with us all)!
