The Commissariat has been challenged

All the paint in the crevasses would not come out so I'm stopping buy the hardware store to pick up some acetone today and finish stripping these fast. I'm hoping to be primed and at least started painting buy the end of the weekend (along with my own ten page xeno campaign to finish on the Jay Treaty and the Criminal Protection Amendments.)

It'll be a busy and fun weekend.

I can only assume that, instead of priming them with paint, the previous owner of these pieces instead summoned some hell beast and sold his or her soul in order to adhere color to the surface of tiny pieces of metal (at total wast of a demon pact if you ask me but it has added anger and wrath to the world so who knows.) Even acetone is nothing to some of this stuff. Twenty-four hours of soaking and brushing and I'm officially calling it good enough. They're rebased and rebackpacked (its a word) with the sergeant also getting a shiny new chainsword, alla the good commissar's model, because it looks cool and to hell with power swords.

I'll get them primed up asap and then move to paint them.

Actually, it gets worse. I just ran home during my prep period, thinking I could prime the models and snap a quick picture or two so that it at least looks like I'm making progress, only to find that I don't have any primer. unsure.png

What I thought was my last can was actually some gloss black paint that my wife had for working on some furniture project she is doing.

I live about an hour from any where that I'd actually trust the primer from so I do not know when I'll even get to prime these guys, sadly. Probably the second week of March when I go to another tournament.

++ I, librisrouge, hereby tender by surrender in this honorable competition between comrades. May my shame drive me to greater lengths of zeal in the future. I accept any punishment His honorable Commissariat deems appropriate. ++

So much for catching up in the weekend... sad.png. I'm making decent progress, here's a pic of the first one I've finished. Elmo, those look great! Looks like Commissars aren't so lame after all... laugh.png.

He looks great, that's a fantastic red and the green makes for a good complement. A bit of gloss varnish on the lenses would really make him pop if you have any. He'll look even better with his mates too! biggrin.png

Special issue, fire round corners rifles. unfortunately I did try to bend one back and it snapped off so I did not risk it with the rest sad.png

The powersword has also been replaced with a chainsword for a similar reason...

As I don't paint on weekends, that is your chance to catch up msn-wink.gif

Hobby tip.

Warm the metal first then ease to the proper position, finger and thumb should be enough. Do not do it when metal is cold.

I've gotten started with my group now. Just some simple stuff today: aquilas in bronze, plasma coils in metallic green, and boots in brown. I'll make more progress int eh coming days.
