Crazy Ulrik Combos

Ulrik is definitely a force multiplier that we are missing in the new codex. Being able to hand out PE to one or more units for a combat focused army is near priceless.

Gemini, it was never about winning or losing, but rather coming together to clarify a rule that could possibly be misunderstood.

I know, all statements made in good fun. I'd MUCH rather get these things figured out here than wasting precious time with models on the table looking it all up.

Nothign wrong with a bit of friendly rule discussion. As gemini says, better to bash it out on here :D

So, the allies options are limited to units we can actually stick ulrik himself in, rather than sneakily lacing SW IC about the place, which keeps things simpler.

So long fang buffs:

Heavy Bolters - Great here as you are rolling lots of dice, rerolling 1s on both hits and wounds

Plasma Cannons - Reroll your gets hot (can be literally a life saver), and reroll those pesky 1s to wound.

Multi Melta - Mainly targetting vehicles, so reroll to hit, but no reroll on armour pen (as PE is to hit/wound)

Lascannon - Again mainly targeting vehicles, so reroll to hit, but no reroll on armour pen.

Because both MM and LC  are only rerolling their ones to hit when targetting vehicles, id argue he's most useful on long fangs kitted out to take down infantry, as thats best using his multiplier in my eyes. Saying that, its not going to do any harm if you do happen to have a lascannon squad near him :)

It certainly makes long fangs much more viable once you start having him affect 2-3 squads of them. I still like using some sort of tank just to help block LOS to some of the LF.

I wouldnt bother with blood claws and plasma.

1. They are only BS3 (so even with PE your missing a third of the time).

2. They cant charge after firing plasma guns (as they are not assault weapons), which pretty much negates the point of blood claws.

Kit em out with flamers, maybe a hidden powerfist, and throw them into whatever you want dead. Especially if you can sort it so that there is a unit of grey hunters with the wolf standard nearby (a full pack of bloodclaws puts out 75 attacks on the charge if you can manage this - combine that with Ulriks PE and they will kill anything that isnt AV12+).
